No, Vampire's Breakfast (1987) isn't a marketing tie-in for Count Chocula; it's yet another bid to cash in on the vampire comedy craze inaugurated by the 1985 classic Mr. Vampire. Vampire's Breakfast may not have a startlingly original story to tell, but it gets a big boost from some of the industry's hardest working character actors. The underappreciated Kent Cheng (Why Me?, Once Upon a Time in China) heads up the cast as a bumbling reporter on the trail of an undead bloodsucker out to make Emily Chu (A Better Tomorrow, Rouge) into his next meal. And what Hong Kong horror/comedy would be complete without Wu Ma (Mr. Vampire, A Chinese Ghost Story, and innumerable other features)?
No one believes newspaper reporter Bill (Cheng) when he finds evidence that a recent string of murders is the work of a hungry vampire, except for a pretty eyewitness (Chu) who saw the creature firsthand. Smitten by the young lady's charms, Bill decides to prove to his boss (Wu Ma) that he and the girl aren't crazy. He stages some fake vampire pictures for the front page, but the faux photo shoot is crashed by the genuine vampire, who's developed a taste for Bill's love interest. The inept reporter becomes an unlikely hero as he battles the forces of darkness in order to keep his sweetheart from becoming the Vampire's Breakfast!

Bill(Ken Cheng), a newspaper reporters, is suspicious of the cases. He finds Chan Kei (Emily Chu), who witnessed a non-human creature at the scene. In contacting her for information, he falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Bill another witness, Kwan (Keith Kwan) sneak into the Mortuary to examine the corpses. From the distinct tooth holes on the neck of the victims, Bill is certain that the murderer is a vampire. In order to arouse public attention, Kwan is asked to protray a vampire. While Bill is taking the photo, the real vampire emerges. Luckily they manage to escape to a church....
