January 9, 2007 THE END - Out with a bangNANA starring Mika Nakashima's "THE END," is a collection of all Mika Nakashima's songs performed starring as the character Nana Osaki from the hit shojo manga, anime and movie franchise "NANA."
Unlike much of Mika Nakashima's other works, the songs featured in "THE END" are rock. Her voice definitely does justice to the role of Nana, and, somewhat surprisingly, Mika sounds like she has always been singing rock.
Personally, my two top favorites from this album are "GLAMOROUS SKY" and "Hitoiro." In "GLAMOROUS SKY," composed by HYDE of L'Arc~en~Ciel, it has a very upbeat and, to some degree determined mood to the song. Her voice, in this song, anyway, gets a little soft here and there, but not so noticeably as to say her voice digresses from the emotion expected in rock. However, it's not something to worry about - all of these songs are rock, after all, and as I mentioned earlier, it's as if Mika was meant to sing rock.
As with all things in this world, there are pros and cons to everything. In my own opinion, this album was very enjoyable, with many factors far outweighing the cons which will only turn away the fussiest of listeners and critics. Overall, "THE END" is a very enjoyable album, with many catchy tunes, whether or not you're a fan of Mika - or, of NANA, for that matter.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
