It seems a bit outdated to talk about Vincy Chan's debut album while she is now releasing her second one. But it was her first self-titled album that stunned me, and it's never too late to talk about good music, isn't it? When I knew that EEG signed another new singer, I thought she was going to be like one of those starlets in Hong Kong's music scene - there are plenty of them in 2006, all quite all-rounded, but not particularly impressive in any aspect. However, Vincy Chan's debut album broke the rule. She possesses a uniquely clear voice and her skills, though not perfect, fully exemplify her formal vocal training which many Hong Kong pop singers still lack. Her crystal clear voice best suits the expressive songs in this album, and the principal track "Feeling" (Cantonese version - Track 5 / Mandarin version - Track 11) may serve as the most illustrative example. Few can perform the song like Vincy does, hitting the high notes so accurately without losing sight to convey the beauty of the melody. A cover version of the Taiwanese song "Living on My Own" by Freya Lin, "Feeling", under the new arrangement, carries a different emotion which Vincy aptly grasps. "Longing for" (Track 1) may not be that easy-listening, but it demonstrates Vincy's superb techniques in singing. She also ably brings out a sense of lightness and delicacy through her gentle voice in "Confession" (Track 2) and "Fish Swimming in Water" (Track 7), and her voiceover in the latter is a clever design in intensifying that feeling. She attempts a more playful approach when performing "My Adventurous Martin" (Track 6), but I still think that her voice sounds the most soothing in singing ballads like "Fly to Me" (Track 12) and "You, Me and Her" (Track 8). A gifted singer, she knows the art of manipulating her wonderful voice to offer a refreshing and comforting experience to her audience. Track 13, titled "I'm Vincy", is her monologue about her own background. But actually she doesn't need this to promote herself. Her expressive voice is enough to attract people. |

It may just be my oppinion, but I believe Vincy Chan is the most talented Cantonese language artist to ever exist. She sings with a voice of an angel and I can't believe this is her debut! She has a true God-given gift. n_n After hearing how great "Feelings" was, I listened but I think it's just a tad bit overrated. XD It may be better than the original, but I don't like the musical arrangement in the least!!!! >_< sounds weird. I perfer "You Me She", which is so beautiful and heartfelt. Vincy is going to be a great big star in the industry one day and she's got the voice to prove that theory! ^_____^-V =D She's also very beautiful on the outside and inside - you know, that's VERY important ~ the inside part. Hehehehehe~!!!!!!!!! |

long live Vincy!

When I was surfing the web last year, I saw this media player and I clicked on a track called "Feelings". When I listened to it, this voice blew me away. At first I didn't know who she was, but after researching her and to know that she was a newcomer , I immediately knew that she will win the newcomer gold awards of 2006. Vincy is able to show people that she's not a typical pop singer of Hong Kong. Her octaves and high notes captured everyone's attention last year and received praises from people, including Alan Tam and Justin Lo.Vincy has proven that she's worthy of being in the industry. Recommended tracks: 1, 5, 8, 11 |

vincy can sing!!
| I was blown away when i heard vincy's voice, she can carry high notes with some depth and well she can sing! I love her songs especially Tracks 2,4,8. What more do you need to know about a music album other than the singer is great and the songs are great! 10/10 |

"Feeling" This!

I bought this album today. I tried hard to decide whether I should get this, Ella's new album, Andy Hui's new album, or Leo Ku's new album. I decided on this one finally because I rememebr the first time I listened to Vincy's voice, I was very impressed. Although it's sad that her claim to fame is a cover song, I can't blame her for that because it's usually her company that decides these things for her, and not her fault in itself. Both CDs in this repackage are excellent. The Concert CD format in the second one makes it pretty personal, and the first CD is really quite flawless (except I don't like the talking in I'm Vincy). She articulates in her songs, and she can hold a note well, and this CD is a good example of that. If you like Janice's style, I can't see how you'd go wrong with Vincy. I'd like to see her start penning her own work soon! |

got potential

Vincy Chan is one of the few newcomers these days that I find having singing talent....her voice is nice and got techniques in her singing....some of her songs are nice and catchy, but not enough... Even though her first hit song, track 5"feeling" is good and all, i dislike the fact that she used someone else's song to bring her fame...the original mandarin version of this song by freya lin is a lot better than the canto version, her singing is just as good if not better and the lyrics are very sad and touching, her english is also very very good as well. Even though i like the canto version as well...the melody just doesn't flow with canto lyrics...vincy's madarin version is just bad....i'm just sadden by the fact that freya never got the recognitiion for her version, and vincy here got all the air time for it... I support vincy all the way. |
