Virtua Fighter 5 (Japan Version) PS3

The PlayStation 3 gets a shot in the arm with the release of Virtua Fighter 5. This new iteration in the classic fighting series takes full advantage of Sony's next-gen mega-console, providing a deep gameplay experience and stunning graphics indistinguishable from the game's arcade counterpart. Players will gain control of a full complement of fighters, 17 in all, with many favorites from previous releases making reappearances here. New to VF5 are Eileen, a spry female fighter who practices Chinese Monkey Kung-Fu, and El Blaze, a Mexican wrestler with his own set of unique moves.

Graphically, VF5 is second-to-none. Character models feature minute details, right down to sweat falling from a character's pores, and clothing that responds to the environments. Each character will have a number of different outfits, which can be accessorized by detachable items collected throughout the game. The action takes place in beautifully rendered 3-D arenas, which come complete with impressive environmental effects, such as fog, snow, waterfalls, breaking glass, splintering wood, and more. Gameplay-wise, VF5 boasts a new movement system, allowing the player to move quickly from defense to offense, and vice-versa. Each character can now perform side-attacks and throws, adding even more depth to the already robust gameplay.
