'69年9月24日、世界的にビッグになる直前のディープ・パープルはロイヤル・アルバート・ホールでロイヤル・フィルハーモニック・オーケストラと競演し、ライブアルバム「Concerto For Group&Orchestra」を発表した。本作はそれからちょうど30年後の'99年9月25、26の両日、30周年を記念して開催されたコンサートの模様を収録。ギターのリッチー・ブラックモア以外は当時のメンバーが揃い、リッチーの代役はドレッグスのスティーブ・モーズが担当。ロンドン交響楽団との競演で壮大な音世界を築き上げている。
