want me want me, not handle me!
want me want me, not handle me!
| First of all 'want me, want me' is one of the best songs Namie has ever sung. The background music is indianish and the song is fast-paced with a catchy chorus. Trust me this song will stay in your head for a long while. And don't forget that it's a good song to dance to (if you saw the PV). 'Handle me' is similar in genre but just a mediocre song. |

Chill out it's good!
| I live in America and know only a very small bit of Japanese, so the lyrics don't bother me too much. WANT ME, WANT ME and HANDLE ME are both very good song, you cannot deny that. But the thing is, Namie doesn't write her songs! So when a song is given to her, she doesn't have much of a choice but to record it or be sued by avex. SHE'S UNDER CONTRACT! Anyways... WANT ME, WANT ME is an awesome dance song and it's really fun to sing along with, and I think the video is EXTREMELY tasteful when considering what the song means. It's just her and a bunch of people dancing in an inch of water, what's the big deal? Who cares, WANT ME, WANT ME and HANDLE ME both turned out very well and WANT ME, WANT ME works very well on Queen of Hip-Pop. |

Oh c'mon!!!
| Don't you think you people are crossing the line as well as Namie? Everyone is entitled to their opinion! Just because they think something isn't very pleasing doesn't mean they're jealous! Look at yourselves! Who is really the more mature one? And now that I have that out, now I can get to my Namie review. I'm very half-hearted about this song. The beat is excellent and I love her vocals! Great and fast! But the lyrics, I have to agree, are too raunchy for my liking. I grew up hating these kinds of lyrics and the kind of image she's putting for herself in the PV. For a grown, mature woman with a child, I don't think it's very appropriate for her to be singing this. But that's just my opinion. I still support Namie as much as I used to. But I'm sorry to her that's she's getting a 5 on this one. The lyrics were just way too much for me. |

Perfected Art

Amuro Namie has been perfecting the western dance music style since her revival and I feel with "WANT ME, WANT ME" she has finally accomplished that. The exotic instruments giving it an intriguing sound and the beat sending the finishing shivers down your spine really will complete this song for those who are looking for a perfect dance song. Admittedly Amuro's vocals are not displaying her full potential but singing a highly sensual song such as this would ruin the impact of the atmosphere she is attempting to invoke. Some controversy over the lyrics has arisen but the woman is 27, she is comfortable within herself and I find nothing wrong with the lyrics; they are sensual, mischeveous and a little raunchy, those who are mature enough will deal. I do however have a problem with the repetitiveness of the song, but too much complexity in a dance song would ruin the style, people don't want to think while they're dancing. If you are a fan of ballads this song will not interest you, but to many others who want to be lost in an exotic, sensual song that will have you dancing for days then by all means this is for you. However, if you are a little bed-shy you may want to read a translation before you sing it at karaoke. |

A Second Taste of Sri Lanka!
| Hi everybody! I love the background music of WANT ME, WANT ME, it reminds me exactly of the sounds of my childhood! However, I was quite shocked by some of the explicit lyrics. My son, Mohammad, heard the song and now I'm quite upset. In Sri Lanka we call this type of music sankavarjah thavekooshka, which roughly translated means.. overly horny. Check out Shimatani Hitomi - Akai Sabaku no Densetsu.. for the sake of my sweet little Mohammad's virgin ears!! |

Sexy Lyrics Aside . . .
|
Neither of these songs are very good. Namie's vocals on WANT ME WANT ME are surprisingly weak compared to the strong voice that she gave her fans in "Girl Talk" and "Do or Die." It lacks emotion, as if she doesn't care about what she's doing. The song would be much better if she just put some feeling into it. As for HANDLE ME . . . the vocals there are annoying as well. They're really harsh, and the "harmonizing" doesn't really work. Makes you want to pull out your hair. Normally I like her work, but not THIS one . . . you should pass on the single and just wait for the album to come out. |
