Finally...a single worth buying!
Finally...a single worth buying!
| I reviewed Nana's CD "Alive and Kicking" here, but it never got posted. Probably because while I said it was pleasant...it was nothing new. Nana sounded throughout the CD like Yozuca on their CD "Soleil Garden" (which is NOT bad...that was a great CD...so both are great, just similiar to the point of being the same). Anyway, I bought this single because unlike most singles, it had 4 songs. That seemed worth the money for me...plus, the cover look seemed different for Nana and I wanted to see if anything had changed. First: "Wild Eyes" is AMAZING. It is totally new for Nana in style...her voice is more mature and strong while the music is ROCK and very up-tempo. It's also a long song, you get your money's worth out of it! Any CD she releases MUST have this song on it. I played it on repeat about 5 times. The second song: A ballad, with Nana back to a high soprano and soft voice. It's nice though. A needed break after the heart-frenzy of the first song (did I mention how PERFECT the first song is?). The third song: I kid you not...it sounds identical (except in Japanese rather than Cantonese) to a song on Gigi Leung's CD "Ente-tain". Even the chorus of "Sí, sí, sí, sí, sí... is identical. HMMM. The fourth song: Nana is right back to sounding like Yozuca. I would think the fourth song WAS Yozuca if I didn't know who it was. All that said...for only 4 songs, this shows tremendous diversity and range of ability! Hey, sounding like Gigi and even Yozuca is GOOD...they are well-known and respected singers. And the main track alone is to DIE FOR. You must buy "Wild Eyes" and check this masterpiece out. Truly. I never buy singles, but this was way worth it. The only down-side is that after 4 songs you don't expect the CD to end. So: Nana: PLEASE...a new full-length CD soon! But leave off track #3. It's not up to snuff with the rest. Still: I am delighted to own this and will play it tomorrow too! Way to go and grow Nana! Impressive. |
