Hmm..
Hmm..
| This is not the best DEG album out there. In fact its probly my least favorite album by them. It sounds less raw then the other LPs and has a some what of an american sound. It grewon me, but this is the frist DEG ablum that I didn't love from the start and most of my friends don't like it. |

There's been better
| Withering to Death is very much a mix of Vulgar and Kisou it seems; but with far less quality songs. There were only a few good songs on this album such as "The Final" and "Itoshisa fuhai nitsuki", but most of these songs were very bland even compared to Vulgar's album. I wouldn't exactly say they have been completely "Westernized", but they certainly have changed to reach out to more fans, and I am sad to say that this is also at the expense of their wonderful music. I admit it, I'm biased to the wonderful albums of Gauze and Macabre. But when it comes down to it, Dir en Grey will make new fans and lose some old ones in their change. This album proves it and unless you can tolerate your ears bleeding or enjoy really shrieky songs, this album really isn't worth it. |

Withering to death
| This album is probably the best album they've ever made. I simply loved the album "Vulgar" and "Withering to death." kicks that album's ass. The only song I don't like on the CD is the 14th track, "Higeki wa mabuta wo oroshita yasashiki utsu". |

Hard not to love
| It's good to see Dir en grey back with such a wonderful album. They didn't let me down, they're still rocking hard and that's why we love them. |

Western cd
| I must say, vulgar isnt really western style rock, dir en greys western style cd was Six Ugly. i dont know if most of you have heard it, but its very westernized, and was made to be. Vulgar is japanese rock, but its heavier than the usual, i think its something new they wanted to try. i havent heard a lot of bands that do that. |

Great
| This is a great cd, the style of the music on this cd is basically if you take all the styles they have on their older cds, and put then together, it has a bit of everything in each song. there is nothing western about this cd, plus there is english translations in the booklet. and instead of using more english lyrics. most of the songs are all in japanese with a hint of english, (i perfer more japanese than english myself.) i dont know, i like this cd a lot more than their others, i like all of them, but i like it more proably because it has a bit of everything, i think even if you dont like dir en grey, you will still like some if not all of this cd. |

100% perfect!!!
|
anybody who says this sounds like western music, has NOT bought this album and listened to it. none of the songs sound anything like western music. It sounds nothing like western style music, its sounds very Dir en Grey and Japanese hard rock ( with screaming vocals, which are clear and quite amazing ) Kyo's singing talent is amazing, how can someone change from low notes to high notes like that and then back again is amazing! this album is great and has 3 very beautiful rock ballads along with a couple of pop/rock songs and the rest being total madness ( which sounds great ) it is a must buy for anyone who likes Dir en Grey, it has a taste of there old style, but with more edge. it is quite a loud album though, with only 3 soft songs. but very high quality, doesn't get better than this |

dir en grey's withering to death...NOT
|
before releasing this album many, many japanese fans are being negative towards the band. many biassed criticism and painful, discouraging comments are thrown upon the band. but by this album the band has prove to their domestic fans and their global fans that thery're not even close to withering to death... the band characters can be feel to be more solid and mature!! musicwise the tracks of this album have a better so-called harmony.. which is really GREAT!!! this is a MUST buy!! [esp with kyo's lyric darker and more mellow...] my personal fave are: merciless cult, itoshisa wa fuhai nitsuki, dead tree, and kodou!! XP XP XP XP |

Oh....my head
|
I am a huge fan of Dir en Grey. Albums such as Gauze, Vulgar, and Kisou were awesome examples of how great a band Dir en Grey really is. But this...oh my goodness, too much screaming. Tracks like Machiavellism, The Final, and Jesus Christ R'n R were actually pretty good. It's just tracks like Garbage, C, and dead tree that just made Withering to Death very hard to listen to. In my opinion, Dir en Grey should do what Pierrot did and look back on their older music for more inspiration. Quite honestly, I'd like to see more songs like the ones in Gauze and Kisou, cuz this made my head hurt... |

It's stunning, suprising and very original. It's hard to find a band putting that much creativity into their music. Of course their style has changed, however, that should be natural for real artists. I don't think they've become very Westernized, they are way to experimental for that and their sound is too unique to be compared. I personally love this album and can't wait to see them play it live. |
