People behaving badly
| "Woman on the Beach" is the third film I've seen from director Hong Sang Soo; it is by far the most story-driven of the three. It is a smoothly directed, nicely lensed, and well-acted film about a group of selfish people behaving badly in the pursuit of shallow relationships they call "love". The characters cheat on each other, lie, hop into bed before the really know each other, and, unsurprisingly, end up lonely and hurt. Perhaps this film should serve as a primer on how not to behave! |

Hong has a sense of humor
Hong has a sense of humor
| Watched it at the Toronto Film Fest. The director Hong Sang Soo definitely has a good sense of humor on the relationship between men and women, and yet the ugliness of it was revealed in its bare bone. Funny and so real. |
