ふんばりジャンプに舌出し、ヒップドロップ、タマゴをぶつけて敵を倒す……。２画面いっぱいに活躍するヨッシーのアクションゲームです。選択する赤ちゃん（べビィキャラ）によってヨッシーのアクションが変化します。ヨッシーアイランドを舞台に４０＋αのコース、ミニゲームやタイムアタックもあります。

1) ５種類のべビィ
ステージの途中には“バスストップ”があり、背中のべビィキャラクター（マリオやピーチなど）を交代させることができます。コースの特徴に応じて能力の異なるべビィキャラクターを使い分けます。

2) 仕掛けいろいろ
草原や雪山、船上に海中、地下や雲の上など、４０を超えるコースの中で様々な仕掛けが待ち受けています。

3) ボス戦・ミニゲーム・ボーナスチャレンジ
２画面をフルに使ったボス戦やミニゲーム、ボーナスチャレンジ、ステージクリアの時間を競うタイムアタックなどもあります。
