Cocco the female singer/songwriter that suddenly disappeared from the J-pop market during the second season in 2001 is back with her highly anticipated 5th full-length release. The follow-up to her Sangurosu album has been titled Zansaian and can partly be traced back to a legendary tale about mermaids told in Okinawa. As for the songs offered by Cocco, her latest work features overall 12 tracks including the mid-tempo ballad "Hi no Teri nagara Ame no Furu" as well as "Onsoku Punch".
This version comes with an exclusive DVD with the MV clip of "Hi no Teri nagara Ame no Furu" that was shot by director Koreeda Hirokazu who earned international acclaim for his award-winning movie Dare mo shiranai a.k.a Nobody Knows. What's more, the clip of Cocco's premier dance song Swinging Night that was produced by the star in a solo effort is also included.

Hot Swinging Night

I just watched Swing Night and will watch it again as soon as the first video plays through. Goodness Gracious That little girl grew up. When did she learn to dance? And isn't that guy with the mohawk Shiina Ringo's Bassist? Anyway, I need to go get a mop and clean up this floor. Someone might slip and fall with all this drool all over the place. Tap? When did she learn how to tap dance? She really looks good in that suit. She REALLY looks good taking off that jacket. But what's with the short black dress? Shoot the bum who put the ruffles on the front. It hides her hips. When did she become so sensual? And that shot of her smiling mouth. That's the same shot that made me fall in love with Shiina Ringo. You sure this ain't PG-13? Enough droolling, the video's back on. This review only pertains to the DVD portion of the product. But WOW. Cocco is back and in style. |

A Brilliant Comeback

The 5 year wait is finally over as Cocco releases her 5th studio album, Zancyan. This album is definitely something special, just like all her other albums before. This Cd includes Cocco's two recent singles Onsoku Punch, and the beautiful ballad Hi no Terinagara Ame no Furu. Songs such as Nobi, and Anmoku Jouji have that old school rock sound we've come to expect from Cocco. Others like Swinging Night have a swinging jazzy feel to them. I love how Cocco puts her heart and soul into everything she writes. you can just feel the emotion in her voice. Ever since I first heard of this unique singer song-writer; her music has held a special place in my heart. Thank you Cocco. I hope you will continue to enchant us for years to come. |
