자자 2009년을 향해 힘찬 기지개를 펴다!!! 2008년을 3집 <부기댄스(Boogie dance)>로 후끈 달아오르게 했던 그룹 자자가 신나는 일렉트로닉 디스코 곡 <오빠 Baby>를 담은 4집 앨범을 발표하며 2009년을 자자 본인들의 해로 선점하기 위해 비상하고 있다.

과감한 멤버 교체와 혹독한 보이스 트레이닝을 거쳐 멤버 각자가 가진 장점과 개성을 존중하며 서로 톱니바퀴처럼 어우러진 각자의 보이스 느낌을 최고로 끌어올린 이번 앨범에서는 그들이 흘린 땀과 눈물이 헛되지 않았음을 느낄 수 있는 한층 더 업그레이드된 자자의 앨범을 만날 수 있다.
이번 4집 앨범은 기존 멤버인 팀의 리더 조아와 상희 외에 최초로 공개되는 두 명의 남자멤버가 있다. 바로 강재와 승훈이다. 이들은 공개 오디션을 통한 치열한 경쟁을 뚫고 영입된 멤버인 만큼 팀의 아드레날린 역할을 할 전망이다. 이들의 더욱더 파워풀해진 안무와 비주얼 거기에 가창력 까지 이번 앨범의 타이틀 곡 <오빠 Baby>와 [윙크] 잘 맞아 떨어진다.

더욱이 이번앨범의 CREDIT을 보면 이번 자자의 4집앨범이 얼마나 완성도 높은 음반인가를 한눈에 알 수 있다. 지금까지 소속사 대표로 잘 알려져 있는 이원찬감독과 프로듀서 변성복씨가 직접 음반 제작에 참여했다는 사실이다. 그는 오랫동안 핑클전집, 유승준, 젝스키즈, 소찬휘, 리아, 정키 & 돕보이즈, 진주, 델리스파이스, 에코, 쿨, 2002월드컵 기념음반, 기타 다수의 영화 드라마 음반을 기획하고 제작해왔다. 그런 그가 자자의 앨범작업에 직접 관여했다는 사실은 획기적이다!, 놀랍다!, 가요계의 지각변동이다! 이런 수식어 외엔 찾아 쓰기 힘들 것 같다.

여기에 최고의 작사가이자 앨범 프로듀서 강우경이 거의 모든 곡의 가사와 앨범 프로듀서 맡아 앨범의 테마를 드라마 타이즈로 이끌어 나갔고 히트곡 제조기 윤현성을 비롯하여 작곡가 천세민, 신민철, 박해운, 조성현이 참여했다. 또한 이근형의 Guitar연주와 조용필의 모든 공연의 코러스를 맡고 있는 김효수의 참여로 앨범이 더욱 풍성해졌다.

Boogie on down to the Disco station! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10

For anyone who loves disco electronic dance, Zaza are a fantastically bright and funky boogie soul disco quartet to look into if you haven’t already heard them. Zaza’s music is full of verve and bright peppy songs seated on a 70s disco boogie style (4 Station Saturday Night Fever) but with additional seasonings of modern electronic, soul singing R&B disco, traditional K-pop and occasional rock guitar and interspersed rapping. Its mainly discotheque stuff of course and is as lively a disco album you can get. Even the CD label sports a mirror ball print. The two spirited girl singers take center sound stage having similar singing style to K-pop duo Lady Garden interspersed by the two fellas added rapping (which never detracts only complimenting and contrasting the disco beats).

The album song set is certainly catchy and melodic. You want hooks? You got them here, aplenty, disco style! A set of six songs in the main with additional instrumentals and mixes, its dance floor stuff throughout. Straight away the opening song “Oppa Baby” (after a brief clap and chant party intro piece) fills the party spirit with 70s and modern Korean girl pop disco. But its not all boogie down 70s though. Track 4’s “Baen-il Gido” is one fast and vibrant (rockish) electronic dance song that jives along quickly to a superb swift synth melody and vocal. Rhythmic, catchy and fast! “Tomorrow” (track 6) is one of those melodic girl pop vocal songs of a K-drama type. “Boogie Dance” hits the familiar 70’s dance floor style. Its not an album that slows much either. Apart from the beginning of “Tomorrow” this “4 Station” album is on constant fast rhythm, with funky beats to keep your body moving all the way through the 32:45 minutes. More than anything its a ‘fun’ CD too!

Although a disco dance sound, Zaza’s music variety adds flavors that keep this bright and interesting. In fact you don’t have to like the K-pop disco boogie formula alone, as its such a vibrant and uplifting album. Its amazing “4 Station” isn’t in the charts on Yesasia more by all these catchy songs. Highly invigorating, super charged disco hooker with likable rhythms, Zaza are one Kool Gang. Recommended to all K-pop dance lovers! Trust me, you may have SNSD, Kara and Wonder Girls, but don’t miss ZaZa! Especially track 4! ^__^
