Home (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)
December 12, 2006 Another great album...I purchased Angela Aki's album HOME just a couple months ago, and I have to say that it really is a great album. It starts well, with the well-known Final Fantasy XII theme Kiss Me Goodbye, and continues solid to the end-- each song containing Aki-san's talented piano skills. Her vocals are clear and steady, and every song is wonderful. Now let me get to the tracks...
Kiss Me Goodbye: This is a beautiful love song; I love how Aki-san pulled it off. I especially like the chorus right after the interlude. I wish they could have included the English version of this song also. 10/10
Love Is Over Now: This is a wonderful song with a nice, laid-back feel. The chorus is particularly beautiful, with Angela perfectly hitting the high notes. 10/10
Kokoro no Senshi: I love how this song starts off with a single chord and Angela's voice. The verses have a nice, smooth melody, and the chorus is powerful and uplifting. 10/10
MUSIC: This is one of her more upbeat songs. I like how she leads int the chorus with "kimi wa..." The lyrics of the chorus are also really nice. 9/10
This Love: This song is just wonderful. =) It emphasizes the piano and strings, and the transition from the verses to the chorus is wonderfully done. The melody of the chorus, and the key change at the end is also very beautiful. 10/10
Onegai: This song can seem very repetitive in that it reapeats the same melody line over and over again, but this is probably because the song was meant to focus on the lyrics. The cello in the background adds to the sad, beautiful feel of the song. 9/10
Uchuu: This is definitely my favorite song; it has a very unique style compared to the rest of the album. In the first section, it has a mysterious, intriguing feel, which transitions to an uplifting chorus, and ends with the same mysterious feel from the beginning, with Angela singing "eternity is now...". 10/10
Rain: As I transcribed the chords for this song, I found that a sequence of five chords repeats for basically the entire song. However, this doesn't take away from the song at all. I love how she pauses at the last chorus. =) All in all, Rain didn't stand out to me too much but is a great song nonetheless. 9/10
Kiseki: This is a really nice upbeat song. I found it funny how she repeats 'waiting for a miracle' back n forth in Japanese and English. There's nothing extraordinary about this song, but it's still good. 9/10
Oogesa ni Aishiteiru: This song has a nice, loose feel to it. I really like this song because itit features Angela and her piano playing, specifically her jazz skills. Definitely one of my favorites. =) 10/10
Hallelujah: This was my least favorite track b/c to me it felt a little repetitive. Still a nice song tho. 8/10
HOME: I feel that HOME is definitely one of the best songs on this album. It has a gentle feel to it and conveys a nice atmosphere. 10/10
Your Love Song (English): At first I was a bit bored with this song since it contains only the piano and few lyrics. However, this is a truly beautiful and deep song with a delicate melody; I really love the piano solo at the end. 10/10Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
