The 2011 SBS weekend drama New Tales of Gisaeng explores the fascinating subject of gisaeng in present-day Korea. Similar to geisha, gisaeng are classically trained female entertainers of a bygone era, and the series revolves around the happenings of a traditional gisaeng house in modern Korea. Up and coming stars Im Soo Hyang (Paradise Ranch), Sung Hoon, and Han Hye Rin (General Hospital 2) take center stage in the popular series.

Sa Ran (Im Soo Hyang) lost her mother at a young age, and never quite got along with her stepmother and stepsister. Despite her humble background, she carries herself with pride and grace, majoring in classical dance during college. Drawing the attention of Buyongkak's head gisaeng with her dancing talent and classic beauty, Sa Ran enters Korea's sole traditional gisaeng house, an exclusive establishment that serves only VIP guests. Da Mo (Sung Hoon) is a cocky second-generation businessman with his own set of daddy issues. He can't be bothered to give any woman the time of day until he meets Sa Ran.

Drama to remember! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I was never into the 50 episodes long drama's as they were very slow story plot and slow to pick up, although i was i was wrong this drama totally changed my view.
This drama is one of my favorites in 2011. Although some unknown actors and actress is what makes the drama worth to watch as a change. The acting is superb. Totally recommend this romantic drama, the main two leads are so amazing^^ In the end your begin to love every single one of the characters. The title does sound oldish but totally a modern story...
You will fall in love with sung hoon - ah da mo as soon as you start this drama^^~
