Housewife In Hee (Bae Chong Ok) has been the quiet pillar for her family for years, though they don't seem to appreciate it. When In Hee is diagnosed with a terminal illness, she uses her final days to say goodbye to her family in her own way.

Directed by Min Kyu Dong (Antique), the heartrending family drama The Last Blossom is based on the novel and classic nineties series "The Most Beautiful Goodbye" written by acclaimed television screenwriter Noh Hee Kyung (The World That They Live In, Goodbye Solo). The story of a dying woman's sacrifices for her family struck a chord with viewers when the original TV series aired in 1996, and the 2011 film has touched audiences anew with the power and fragility of family and motherly love. Bae Chong Ok (Herb) leads an impressive ensemble cast that includes Kim Kap Soo, Ryu Deok Hwan, Seo Young Hee, Yoo Jun Sang, Park Ha Sun, and Kim Ki Young.

■ 줄거리

영원히 반복될 것만 같았던 일상에 찾아온 이별의 순간
그날 이후… 우리는 진짜 ‘가족’이 되었습니다.

분주한 아침, 가정주부 ‘인희’는 치매에 걸린 시어머니의 아침 챙기랴, 남편과 딸 출근 준비하랴 매일 바쁜 아침을 보낸다. 여기저기 참견하며 가족들을 챙기는 인희의 말은 모두 잔소리라고 생각하고 각자의 일에만 신경 쓰는 풍경.

자신의 오줌소태가 낫지 않아 점점 더 화장실에서 일 보기가 힘들어진 인희는 남편 정철이 월급쟁이 의사로 근무하는 병원에서 진료를 받게 된다. 가볍게 생각한 오줌소태는 악성 종양이라는 판정을 받고, 이를 후배 의사에게서 먼저 알게 된 정철은 괴로워한다. 인희에게 종양 판정을 숨긴 채 정철은 더 세부적인 검사들을 해보고, 동기와 후배 의사들을 설득하여 수술에 나선다. 수술실에서 개복 결과, 악성 종양 말기라는 것을 자신의 눈으로 확인한 정철은 수술실을 나가 흐느껴 운다.

아직도 자신의 병을 모르는 인희는 자신의 몸이 점점 더 나빠지는 것을 느낀다. 그리고 정철의 얘기로 인해 가족들 하나 둘 인희의 병을 알게 되고, 자신들이 잊고 살던 아내, 그리고 엄마의 고마운 자리를 깨달아 간다.
