八十年代香港新浪潮電影名導演之一許鞍華近年來產量甚少，只有文藝片路線的《姨媽的後現代生活》，道出笑中帶淚的中國人現代化後的生活。而1991年許鞍華作品《上海假期》，亦見證了在八、九十年代交會時的上海平民生活的面貌，許鞍華拍攝出令人共鳴的風土民情。
《上海假期》乃一部在上海取景拍攝的倫理喜劇，集合了台港兩地藝人包括午馬、劉嘉玲、王萊、孫鵬和黃坤玄。著名童星黃坤玄在片中飾演美國長大的少年，因父母無暇照顧而送到上海跟祖父暫住。這位少年逐漸感受到中國的人情可貴。劇情內容講述六十多歲的顧老伯在上海過著平靜和孤獨的生活。某一天，兒子從美國打來電話，要讓小孫子顧明回國與爺爺過一段日子。最初，兩種不同的生活方式使祖孫二人怎麽也無法適應。而平凡卻充滿真情的生活，終於使小孫子有所改變，兩代人和睦相處……

顧老是六十多歲的退休音樂老師。他兒子與媳婦在美國留學，但因要到德國作短期研究，把兒子暫托給爺爺照顧。可是兩爺孫生活文化有很大衝突，孫兒甚至像個外國人。顧老心痛的同時，孫兒卻離家出走。但短暫的「出走」令孫兒學懂了不少。當孫兒被父母接回去時，他卻不捨得顧老，但顧老則表現豁達，好像早有寂寞的心理準備。 雖然知道他的兒子、媳婦及孫兒不在身邊，但他明白他們仍是關心自己的。何況，日子雖寂寞，至少上海還是上海。
Ku is a retired musician. He lives a dull but routine life. Ku's son and daughter-in-law are studying in the United States. For a short term research in East Germany, they send their son to live with his grandpa. It is now the proudest moment of Ku. Unexpectedly, he could not satisfy the grandchild's "American standard". He even criticizes the "great fatherland" like a foreigner does. Not beyond Ku's anticipation, his grandson escapes, leaving Ku in deep remorse. After all, the grandson back home. He seems learnt something from the abscond. As Ku's grandson is called back to the United States, Ku realizes only his grandson doesn't want to depart with. Ku generously accepts the fate. Anyway, he won't feel lonely as Shanghai is still Shanghai.

Touched and have feeling.
| I do not know if this a China or HK made movie. The story is good and touched. If you are under age 30 1st generation overseas, you won't know the feeling. If you are 30-60 1st generation overseas; it will give you the feeling of generation gap with the 2nd generation. Recommend to share this move with your 2nd generation for the love of in Chinese tradition, culture and homeland. |
