　1701年3月14日、江戸城内で赤穂藩主・浅野内匠頭が吉良上野介を斬りつけた事件は、秘密裏に処理。内匠頭は即日切腹、赤穂藩は断絶、吉良はお咎めなしという一方的裁断が下されたが、それは江戸家老・色部又司郎と柳沢吉保の策略だった。その策略に気付いた大石内蔵助は、塩相場を操作して膨大な討ち入り資金を用意。その資金を元に、着々と仇討ちの準備を重ねていくのだが…。
