　　國彬、文福和Terry因是EM3的學生，所以受盡親戚朋友的鄙視，甚至老師都看不起他們，認定他們是一群不可救藥的〝笨〞小孩。

　　國彬雖在繪畫方面很有天分，但彬母認為這正阻礙了他的學業。Terry自小受母親溺愛，養成了沒有主見的性格。文福常需幫母親做生意和照顧弟弟。國彬因成績沒達到母親要求而企圖自殺，幸被警方救回，母親氣得入院，才知她患上血癌並有性命之虞，幸得Terry捐出骨髓救了好友母親一命。

　　一個中國工人因被Terry父開除，綁架Terry圖勒索，文福卻也一起被綁走。幸警方憑國彬畫出綁匪的樣貌，找到匪徒並救出Terry與文福。經歷這一切，文福在EM3的測驗取得最高分數，Terry也明白做人要靠自己，而國彬的畫在比賽中得獎，受主辦機構賞識，有機會到美國深造。

　　Kwok Bun, Man Fook and Terry are classmates in "EM3". Their relatives, friends and some teachers despise and consider them as dull. Kwok Bun is a born artist but his mother wants him to focus on his study. Terry is a spoiled brat who must depend on others' opinions. Man Fook needs to balance school and helping his mother to look after family business. The three children suffer from the pressure of school and their parents.

　　Kwok Bun tries to commit suicide because of bad exam results. Fortunately the police save him. His mother suffers the buffets of the news and is sent to hospital. Kwok Bun realizes his mother has got cancer. Terry, despite his fear of pain, offers to donate his bone marrow to save Kwok Bun's mother at the crucial moment.

　　A Chinese worker who has been dismissed by Terry's father kidnaps Terry and Man Fook to demand ransom. The police save the children with the help of Kwok Bun's sketch of the kidnapper.

　　The boys realise their true friendship and goals when their experience all these incidents together. Following the story of these three children, we can realize the struggle between parents and youngsters.
