成龍在過去曾經拍過四部《警察故事》的系列電影，包括《警察故事》(1986)、《警察故事續 集》(1988)、《警察故事3之超級警察》(1992)及《警察故事IV簡單任務》(1995)。《警察故事 》在當年更榮獲第五屆香港電影金像獎「最佳電影」及「最佳動作指導」的榮譽。JCE頭炮作品 《新警察故事》雖然沒有沿用成龍在《警察故事》的一貫角色名字──陳家駒，但那種成功的公式卻得以延續。
《新警察故事》再次貫徹了陳木勝的拍攝手法，紛亂的場面、大型的爆破，演員神髓的捕捉，他都控制自如，緊湊劇情接二連三，節奏感鏗鏘多變。陳木勝再次與成龍及謝霆鋒合作，在他們身上找出更多的潛能和元素，尤以一開場成龍大哥演出內心戲，以及與睽違大銀幕的楊采妮的夫婦感情戲，更見導演用心去捕捉他難得一見的鐵漢柔情。成龍更親自擔任動作特技指導，加上李志忠及成家班設計出一為「狂野」一為「拼搏」的動作風格。
以吳彥祖領導的五人組，動作指導讓他們盡情「狂野」破壞，如在北角搭建街景，為拍攝一連串車輛碰撞及巴士頂層被行拉上天橋被剷平的戲份，更出動了三架雙層巴士作拍攝之用。另他們用了殘酷的手段對付片中成龍的精英部隊，將他們逐一擊倒懸吊在40呎高空，多名演員包括吳浩康及吳嘉龍等，就被倒吊在懸樑達數小時。
至於以成龍為首的警隊，動作就以表出「拼搏」精神為主題，亦有多場高空動作鏡頭，在高架天橋頂、高速巴士頂、高樓天台頂、貨倉頂、以至首次在電影出現的會展頂部，都有連場搏鬥。
《新警察故事》的成本高達1.2億港元。由成龍、楊采妮、蔡卓妍、吳彥祖及謝霆鋒主演。

Wing is the Hong Kong Police's resident super cop. He's the best of the best, cracking every case he handles in record time. Joe is the leader of The Gang Of Five. He uses shoot-'em-up videogames as his inspiration to create the most elaborate and deadly traps for the police. Wing and his team are trapped, and gunned down one by one. Only Wing himself escapes... Wing's colleagues are all dead, including Rocky, the younger brother of his girlfriend Ka Yee. He hides himself from Ka Yee and though still technically on the force, sinks into an abyss of alcoholism and despair. One night, Fung finds his idol lying dead drunk in the street, pulls him out of the gutter and brings him home. Fung sees in Wing a chance to live his dram, and pretends to be a cop assigned by Wing's superiors to help him hunt down the Gang of Five. Fung enlists the help of Fa Fa, a fresh, pretty young policewoman who runs the computer crimes division. She is Chemed by Fung and helps him track down Sam. Sam has left the police force, changed his name and gone into hiding at a local nightclub. Wing and Fung question the nervous Sam, and then, following up on a further up, go to a rooftop mountain bike X-games event. When the Gang members realize they have been rumbled, San is shot dead...

The real Jackie Chan is back

Jackie's movies kind of lost the "hot-blood" after he changed his movie into Hollywood style. Now, it is not the case anymore. It is the full force Jackie Chan, the one we grow to love back again. I have to say this movie is one of the BEST Jackie Chan's movie, if not Jackie's BEST movie. The story, characters, the actions are all AAA grades. Highly recommend to anyone, from 3 years old to 103 years old alike will love it. (P.S. Charlie is so pretty in this movie ^_^ ) |

Very good
| This is a very good film, jackie finally got serious, no more fooling around. This is the jackie we like. Those thefts are excellent, finally see something really good, and it's not a romantic comedy from hk. I can see they spend a lot of money, but i think it's worth it. a MUST WATCH so far in this year. |
