《望夫成龙》是在1990年周星驰又一搞笑之作，那时周星驰全力进军大银幕，同期的电影作品有《赌圣》、《逃学威龙》和《审死官》等，令周星驰的喜剧电影热持续了近四年多。《望夫成龙》当年票房大卖，戏中的吴带娣(影后吴君如饰)为了石金水(周星驰饰)能出人头地，所以尽一切能力扶持他。石金水故居回忆往事，巧遇吴带娣，两人再续前缘……
《望夫成龙》乃90年代星爷芸芸搞笑作品之一，而导演则是从1973年起于香港TVB担任助理总监、曾监制过《创世纪》、《寻秦记》、《流金岁月》的梁家树，片中编剧为另一位TVB之皇牌监制邓特希，以及鬼才刘镇伟监制。近年来星爷专注参与自己创作的电影，如果想重温由周星驰加上吴君如这对《喜剧之王》绝配演出，《望夫成龙》是一齣不可错过之作。

鄉間長大的石金水（周星馳）自小寄人離下，與村中酒樓的太子女吳帶娣（吳君如）青梅竹馬，私定終身，但為娣父（成奎安）反對，二人決私奔，搬到市區共同生活，奮鬥。金水找到一份鑽石推銷員工作，並受上司NANCY（關秀媚）賞識，二人漸生情愫。金水與NANCY之感情關係，終導致金水與帶娣婚姻破裂。兩年後，金水浪子回頭，到舊居尋找帶娣，二人終在波折重重之後，再度攜手共同努力新生活。
Shek Kam Shui (Stephen Chiau, God of Cookery) was a guy who sponged on a restaurant's owner (Shing Fu On) and grew up in the village. He became good friends with Ng Dai Tai (Sandra Ng). However, their relationship was deprecated by Tai's father. Hence, they eloped and moved into the city and led a new life of their own. Kam Shui had the opportunity to be a diamond sales representative and was highly appraised by his senior, Nancy (Suki Kwan). The affair between Nancy and Kam Shui finally turned the red light on the marriage between Dai Tai and him. After two years, Kam Shui feeling regretful for what he did, returned to the old humble place to find Dai Tai. They met again and live happier ever after.
