《笑拳怪招》为成龙大哥初执导筒之作，同台演出还有田俊、石天等。成龙饰演一名为了报仇雪仇而苦练武功的少年。练武过程自然少不了眩目的功夫，而成龙与仇家的打斗更教人目不暇给。《笑拳怪招》并非一味暴力，而是充满喜剧元素，因而大受欢迎。电影于1979年上映，数周内收得超过五百万港元，以当时来说是非常可观的数字，更加打破了发行该片的院线的纪录。续集《龙腾虎跃》中，成龙与惠天赐饰演失散多年的兄弟，故事继续以报仇为主线，兄弟二人联手对付天地双煞，电影中当然亦少不了精彩武打场面，扣人心弦。

　　形意门大掌门人陈鹏飞（田俊饰）因受清廷的迫害，与孙儿兴龙（成龙饰）隐姓埋名，居于山间。惜龙喜四出惹事生非，无意中洩露身份，被清廷统带任天化（任世官饰）追至。陈不敌任，惨被打死。龙亲眼目睹祖父被杀，决意发愤图强，拜祖父的好友八脚麒麟为师，苦练形意拳，誓为祖父报仇。究竟最後龙能否打败任呢？

　　In this directorial debut, Jackie plays Lung, a talented fighter but prefers to spend his time loafing around and picking fights, despite orders from his grandfather (James Tien) not to fight. Unknown to him, a brutal general (Yam Sai Kun) has been slaughtering all the people from his grandfather's clan. When the general recognizes Lung's style of kung fu during one of his street fights, he hunts down Lung's grandfather and kills him.
　　
　　A grieving Lung plans his vengeance and is aided by crippled kung fu master who imparts to him a new kind of "emotional kung fu". Mentally and physically ready, Lung finally seeks out the wicked general to see justice done.

　　程家三雄为武林除害而杀死夺魂罗刹，因此与天地双煞结下深怨。天地双煞为父报仇，突击程家庄。老大程振东死于天地双煞的绝招——鬼影移形之上。老二振南及老三振北各携独子分别逃生，并隐居山间。

　　振南独子阿龙（成龙饰）生性顽皮，喜四出捣蛋生事，因一次与村人打架而使出程家拳。天地双煞闻风而至，先後打死振南及振北。阿龙与振北独子阿栋（惠天赐饰）决联手对付天地双煞。究竟最後他们能否打败天地双煞呢？

　　Jackie plays Ching Lung, who is separated from his brother Tung (Austin Wai) when they were both very young. The brothers are reunited after their father is murdered by the cruel Heaven and Earth Devils. With Lung's outstanding kung fu and Tung's knack for machinery and setting traps, the brothers pool their talent to fight Heaven and Earth to avenge their father's death.
