Written by YumCha! Editorial Team Tell a Friend

The below rankings are based on sales of movie, music and TV releases on YesAsia.com from January 1 to June 30, 2017. Sales of all editions and versions of the same title are summed up to determine the total sales and ranking of each title.

BEST-SELLING K-POP RELEASES

Last year's best-selling artist BTS again powers their way to the top of our bestsellers chart with the album Your Never Walk Alone. Monsta X impressively rises to #2, while Girls' Generation leader Tae Yeon breaks into the top ten as a solo artist for the first time. Five years after the Alive albums, Big Bang storms into the top ten again thanks to their tenth anniversary Made album. Twice secures two spots with mini-album Signal and special album Twicecoaster: Lane 2, and GOT7, Seventeen and AOA also continue to make strong showings. Goblin (a.k.a. Guardian: The Lonely and Great God) is the only drama soundtrack in the top ten.

BEST-SELLING J-POP RELEASES

While Korean idols dominating our Japanese music charts is nothing new, the presence is especially strong this year. Claiming three spots in the top ten, EXO leads the pack with the CBX unit's debut album coming in first, and Coming Over, last year's best-selling single, still charting high. K-pop top seller BTS is right behind in second and third, while Monsta X and Twice also debut in the top ten. Twice's Japan debut album, in particular, was released on June 28, right before the half-year cutoff, and still managed to rank #5. Arashi holds strong as the lone Japanese artist in the top ten with two releases.
