August 17, 2008 very very sillyThis drama is so childish. The story is full of contradictions and so stupid in a lot of occasions too. Wallace did not perform well nor could he stood out amongst the rest of the male cast. Epistle 25 eventually showed some lights only to be marred by the subsequent epistles all the way to the end. Not perfect but nevertheless very interesting and should capture your desire to watch till the very end. Bae is in absolutely top form. There is not a single frame in the whole drama that he didn't look totally remarkable. You just cannot take your eyes off him at all. He is definitely charming and may be is the best looking guy ever. I wasn't quite sure if the older female lead is fit for the character she played but she did execute her role well especially at the end she was super. The younger female lead (the younger sister) has yet to build up her acting skills and experience. It is definitely well worth watching if even just for Bae and Bae alone because he is the ONE for this role nobody else could have done it better. Did you find this review helpful? Three out of the four main leads are so adament of their love but in the end they understand and know when to let go. Yao is very admirable. She's almost like a saint. Sun Li is so beautiful and tough, she makes every girl proud. Unfortunately she has a really money conscious mother who is forever a pain. It is a great pity of course that after all those hardships, she and Wallace still could not be together. Wu (Lip Hoi) is the most touching one. He loves completely without reserve. Only Wallace is a bit too soft. Many a time he couldn't speak out how he feels so as not to hurt others. I suppose the ending is fair although it would be nice to see the lovely pair united. Its complete failure falls mainly on the female lead herself. Despite of numerous fancy outfits and accessories, Kim TA still looks extremely unattractive and terribly unpleasant. All she does was to stand motionlessly like a stupid barbie doll, while every female (old or young) is better looking than she is Her eyes are always unnecessarily overloaded wth tear drops, yet has no effect on anyone watching. I lost count of the number of times when she said 'I am really sorry' but she should have saved this phrase till the end for viewers who are suffering from eye sores. She is supposed to be 27 in the drama but behaved like a teenager. Her facial expressions and idiotic actions are enough to drive anyone mad. Having brought up like a princess does not mean one is so ignorantly stupid. There was however one scene and one scene alone that Kim did well, when she ripped off the bottom of her dress, let her hair down and danced erotically. April 13, 2008 long drama but worth watchingA very long drama with many many exciting epistles. Don't be too fussy with details and you will enjoy it tremendously. It shows all aspects of love that Koreans are so good at. Love, whether between men and women, emporor and guards, masters and slaves, father and son are all so very well portraited but the greatest love comes from Princess Yo Yung when she was willing to sacrifice herself and her family to save someone who couldn't even give her a little of the love she hoped for. This is the first time I watched the end of the baddies and felt sorry for them. The bad emperor and his very faithful personal guard 'Ha Chi Ping' were very touching at the end when baddie emperor repented and Ha killed him to save him from his misery but promised to be there with him always before committing suicide. The worst person Chi Leo was so wicked throughout but in the end he did right. I am not sure about the last epistle. I much prefer a happier ending. The Mirror
March 12, 2008 very interesting storiesIt started off with a little intro followed by three very interesting tales. The mirror affected different people in different places during different decades. I do not like the character of Kang oh soo but in the end he did right. You can feel the pain with the very handsome but cool Ju Jin Hoon but I felt sorry most for Suk Jin and the poor boy who was being bullied. The girl is adorable too. I like how the story was being told and as always, Korean dramas show different kinds of love at its best. If only this drama started off well, I am sure it would be a big hit. If anyone is to be criticised, then it has to be the camera man, who is absolutely awful zooming his lens in and out, making you dizzy. Don't be put off by the beginning. Very very silly to begin with but it will get better and better as it goes along. Everyone is fine except I am not convinced with the girl who has mental disabilities.
