    August 4, 2006 Samantha Lam: 1984-1986/1987 Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Another credible singer of the 1980's. Although her singing career was very short, her two or three years in the business is nothing short of extraordinary. I still remember a song sung by her for a Hong Kong movie called "A Certain Romance". It was great Taiwanese director Yonfan's directorial debut, starring Deng Ho-kwong, Ng Mei-chi, Choi Ming-wei and Chan Chun-kwok back in 1985. The movie was lovely to watch and that song matched it heavenly. There's only two more songs that I've listened to in the past, while the rest, I've never listened to before. Samantha Lam has made a few guest appearances on TVB as a singer after she retired from singing in 1986/87, singing either her old classics or other singers' songs. I'm looking forward to this purchase.

August 4, 2006 Kevin: What a lovely singer! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I'm really looking forward to this CD + karaoke DVD. Kevin has been in and out of the Hong Kong pop music business for the past 12 years. For the past six years or so, he'd been acting in movies or in TVB drama series. Kevin Cheng has a lovely baritone singing voice and his good looks must've won many female fans' hearts. There are a few songs I'm familiar with, while the rest I've never listened to before. I wish Kevin continued success in his singing career.

August 4, 2006 I'm extremely happy for him!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Ten years in the Hong Kong pop music business. I assume this is Ronald's first major concert in his 10 year career (well at least being a major concert since his last one if he did held any before. May someone kindly please tell me and other YesAsia customers on whether he did hold any concert/s previously? Thanks in advance for answering my question). His success at the top finally came with the award-winning song - "Scoundrel" (Cantonese: Mo Lie) last year, winning awards at all four major music award ceremonies in Hong Kong organised and presented by these following four media organisations respectively being Hit Radio, Commercial Radio, TVB and RTHK. (For RTHK's Top Ten Gold Song Awards, it was a live broadcast on its own radio station, it was a delayed broadcast a few days later on TVB with Chinese subtitles, and a furthered delayed broadcast on ATV a few more days later). Personally I love RTHK's music awards ceremony better, because it's presented as being a more fairer voting radio station and it doesn't require the singer to be present if he or she is absent due to work commitments or being sick, like TVB does with its music award ceremony. Alright back to the album, Ronald has presented us with the best of the best of his Chinese pop songs from his singing career. Some are well known, while some are sung to freshen people's memory after a long absence on the radio airwaves or on T.V. with the songs' MVs. Plus you got the odd songs that Ronald rarely or never sung at any of his live performances, which makes it a real eye-opener for all non-fans. Devoted fans could possibly know all his songs and may sing along to his twin CD album. I look forward to listening to all the songs, especially these song tracks: Disc 1 track 01, 06, 07, disc 2 tracks 01 (Smile Again Maria - the original version was sung by my No. 1 idol - Mr. Jacky Cheung in 1985 within the "Smile" album), 02, 07 (a duet with Jacky Cheung, the song they both recorded in 1996 together), 09, 11, 12, 14 (with the Hong Kong male pop singers of the "Men's Team", 15 & 17, because they are my most favourite songs after listening to them (or watching the songs' MVs on TVBJ or on karaoke VCD/DVDs numerous times in the past). Other songs that I've never listened to before should also be pretty good. I believe Ronald does a great job when he performs other Chinese pop singers' songs. I eagerly await for this twin CD concert album to be on the music store shelves very soon, as with many other music lovers. I wish Ronald continued success for many years to come. May God bless this bloke. Enjoy his songs. Cheers!

August 3, 2006 I love this compilation album! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Anything that has a few music companies (these being Gold Label, BMA, Universal Music, TVB Music, etc.) contributing their songs to 2 disc compilation albums should be pretty good. Diversity; contract singers singing with other contract singers from other music companies, offering us nice, different and (possibly) very lovely duet singing; and, just plain good music is what I and most music lovers want. Especially when the very best recent hits recorded all together into albums like these. The newest contributor to this album is TVB Music (with Liza Wang and Kelly Chen - disc 1 track 3, and with Bernice Liu - disc 1 track 12). I like Bernice's better, because for me personally, Liza and Kelly's pairing just doesn't sound right. My favourite tracks: all of them except for disc 1 track 3. The song tracks which I still need to listen are disc 1 tracks 1, 10, 14, 15, disc 2 track 3, 4, 9-12, 14. All the songs I've previously heard or watched MV's of are pretty well worth listening to this 2 disc CD. The music is excellent, most lyrics makes sense and all singers sing their songs competently. I hope there's more of these types of compilation albums released in the future. Enjoy.

August 1, 2006 Should I wait for you, Vincy? Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I love to buy this CD+DVD, but as you know, EEG is notorious for releasing subsequent versions with added extras. Should I wait a bit longer before I buy this musical work? I hate wasting my hard earnt money. I've watched one of her MV's on TVBJ in Sydney and I am very impressed by this beautiful young lady's singing talent. Yes, another major potential superstar. Talented among (too) many talented in this class of 2006. The number of newcomers keeps growing every year. There's definitely more newcomers this year than last year's lot (which also includes TVB actor-singers). God bless these lot of newcomers.

July 16, 2006 Marvellous Stuff Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Jacky Cheung was certainly at his peak, and that was the year he garnered his second World Music Award - Best Selling Asian Artist Award. His first being collected at the previous year (1995). This is a very good VCD. Jacky was wearing a black shirt, with a lovely, crispy looking acrylic silver suit with matching neck tie and trousers. He sings some old favourite classic songs of his that weren't famous at its time of release, some new songs and three old songs from his predecessors - Sam Hui, Alan Tam and Michael Kwan. The musical conduction by Miss Yip Wing-see is just out of this world, and The Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra was at its very best as always. Superb job by all parties involved in this lovely musical production. The only qualm I have about this VCD is that they didn't recorded the casual talking that Jacky gives between some songs. Otherwise, near perfect. 9/10 from me.

    July 16, 2006 I Like Twins, I Don't Like EEG Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
These girls are cool, releasing their second Mandarin album, now with extras and subsequent versions later, which includes this 2 MVs + additional behind the scenes footage of their MVs DVD, courtesy of the money hungry EEG CEOs and senior executives. Personally I would send these ladies and gentlemen to China and have them executed by firing squad. The EEG at the top are guilty of producing so many versions of a CD, which is an absolute rip-off to their consumers - the EEG fans of the respective Chinese pop artists. I'm absolutely angry with the EEG executives. Extremely disgusted. They have no shame. But please don't blame their singers, because most of it is out their control, unless they (the singers) done everything themselves from the very start to the very end, including pre-production, production, post production, marketing and distributing of their respective products. Talking about this product. As always, Twins looks beautiful. They're always fresh looking and full of fun. Absolute kids at heart, even though they're in their early twenties. The 10 songs are reasonably good. The lyrics are pretty well written, and lovely musical composition and arrangement. Although I like the majority of songs (which most are targeted for teenyboppers), I like their "more mature" works the most, like tracks 3, 7 and 8. Yes, I quite like hearing Ah Gil and Ah Sa singing solo respectively in tracks 5 and track 9. The previous time they sung solo with a song each to their credit was with their "Touch of Love" album (with their first and multiple versions later). The 4 photos and their Twins Octopus Card Protecting Card Cover are lovely. The MVs are lovely to look at, with lovely computer graphics used in it and Twins are dancing nicely to the beat. As for the 2nd MV, Twins have sung pretty good with emotions. As always, they look photogenic and have a sizzling onscreen charisma. Their Mandarin pronounciation and their singing in general have improved immeasurably. If it wasn't for EEG, I would've scored this product much higher, so I'm giving this product an overall score of 6/10. So EEG, please get this message: Please refrain from publishing multiple and similar versions of the CD with bonus extras, otherwise, sooner some of us will boycott in buying any of your products. This is not a threat, it's a promise. Okay. May God bless Twins. Bye.

July 14, 2006 A Beauty Who Can Sing! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
One of the very few beautiful, young and talented Hong Kong ladies who can actually sing! Praise to the Lord. I've been praying for more ladies of Rammie's type. Now it's the time to savour every second of her lovely singing voice! I'm one of the most critical customer reviewers, because I know when I can smell rats in the ranks who can't sing at all, who shouldn't be in the Hong Kong pop music industry at all. Her voice is of near angelic quality. The only thing that Hong Kong needs to test her is whether she can really sing powerful notes like the ones belted out by Maria Cordero and Teresa Carpio. Those two ladies are pure examples of what you can really call pure talented singing. I'm still trying to find the new "it" girl who can match with the extreme best in the business. May be Rammie can make it after a few more singing lessons taught by the cream of Hong Kong's pop singing top talent. The photos are nice. Meaningful lyrics, lovely music composition, beautiful musical arrangement. Her Cantonese and Mandarin pronunciation is top notch. May someone please tell me where this lady comes from? Was she from H.K., China, The States, Canada or The U.K.? Many thanks in advance for answering my question. Yes, I hope to see more of this lady in the very near future. Let's hope Hong Kong will allow this beautiful lady to really establish herself as a talented singing superstar in her own right. And I hope to see this lady in Sydney performing at the Acer Arena (the former Sydney SuperDome), or the Sydney Entertainment Centre, very soon, one day. She has my sincere blessings and goodwill. May the Lord look after her all the way. Peace. Zai jian!

July 11, 2006 This album was hot!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This was one Jacky's best performances ever, giving his old songs a new life and singing a new rendition by singing a different music genre for each song, eg. track 11 was a classical Cantopop in 1988. With a fresh approach to this song, he re-sung in pop-rock style. I loved all songs, except for one - track 8, because this song track should always be a slow song, not a fast one and I don't like the rock style, because it simply doesn't give the song much credibility, when you pair it up with the lovely lyrics of the song...... It just sounds awful. Anyway, next Monday, the 17th of July, 2006, 7:30 p.m., I'll be singing at the 2006 International Chinese New Talent Singing Championship (Sydney Region) at K Square Karaoke Lounge, located at George Street, in the Capitol Square computer goods, takeaway/restaurants & shopping complex. I'll be singing track 11, because I love the song's slow pop/rock style. And did you know this song was Moody Blues' "Nights in White Satin" back in 1967? This original 1967 English song went for a little over 7 1/2 minutes. I was actually very glad he sung this song in 2000 for the CD and VCD/DVD version for his 15th anniversary commemorative editions. Most of us know Jacky suffered depression in 1988 and slowly built his reputation, then 1991, with the song "Loving You More Each Day", his singing career went sky high and never looked back since. He went one to be one of Hong Kong's most successful Chinese pop singers in his generation and he's still going strong. I'm still one of his No.1 fans worldwide. I love and admire the guy as the singer, a father, the entertainer, the good man he is......he's just good. I hope to see him sing this song "In My Dream Last Night" (track 11) for his possible upcoming concert in Sydney, if he decides to hold one here. And I hope you'll give me some support for next Monday's comp. in its preliminary rounds. Many thanks. Peace.

July 8, 2006 Andy was 1 of my fav. singers! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
He was one of my favourite Cantopop singers along with my number one idol, Mr. Jacky Cheung Hok-yau. From late 1989 to early 1992, he was contracted to IPS Records, which got his fledging singing career a boot, making him TVB's "J.S.G. Best 10 Awards Presentation" Best Male Singer Award twice in 1990 and in 1991. Without his record hits at IPS, he wouldn't got to where he is today then jumping ship to BMG/New Melody in 1992, then EMI in 2002/03, then East Asia in 2005. This album is an absolute classic. I loved most songs in this beautiful album. I give this album a 9/10 rating.

    July 7, 2006 What A Chopper Of A Film !!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
If you're into the harrowing, frightening and a resentful episodes of a movie based on the life of real Australian man - Mark Brandon "Chopper" Read, this is it. A high critically acclaimed film internationally, in which got Australian actor, Eric Bana the "Green Card" to Hollywood, will surprise you with its every twists and turns, its raw emotions, the graphic violence used and overall impressions created by its atmosphere, it casts and crew. Superbly written and directed by Andrew Dominik. This film was distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment (which is located at Fox Studios, Moore Park, Sydney, Australia) in association with Palace Films. That's the same movie DVD and/or video cassette distributor in association with Palace Films too, with another Australian film in which I also previously reviewed just a few days ago - "Alexandra's Project". By the way, both are Australian version DVD's. Believe me, you will love this film, even though there's graphic violence from time to time during this magnificent film. 10/10 from me.

    July 2, 2006 She's My Tarcy Su Hui-lun..... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Miss Tarcy Su Hui-lun was the first Mandarin pop artist I listened to on a music cassette in which I bought with my own money in 1995. She was with Rock Records back then with that lovely "Satisfied" album. The last track from that album was absolutely sweet. Sweet like honey. It's one of the most beautiful songs in the world. I can listen to that song over and over again without getting bored with it. Now with Universal Music Taiwan (probably for a year or two now), I'm looking forward to a much lovely and possibly a heavenly singing voice from Tarcy. I'm looking forward to her singing more different genres of songs to expand her reasonably impressive repertoire. I believe this album will be an excellent one to purchase. I think she has matured in her approach to Mandopop, trying to sing different genres of songs for each album she has released (whether that's her Mandarin or the occasional Cantonese albums). And I hope to see her perform in Sydney, Australia, one day. I wish her continued success in Taiwan's pop music industry. God bless. Peace.

July 2, 2006 Solid effort, but...... Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This is a solid effort from Justin Lo, but I don't really like Cantopop artists or their music companies doing second and possibly multiple (3 or even 4) versions of their first original CD with a few add extras like a new song or two, or two or more MV's added in the front of the audio music tracks. It really bugs me very much. EEG are the worst culprits, especially with Twins. Absolute shockers. Now Gold Label is joining multiple CD/CD + VCD/CD + DVD/CD + poster/CD + photo album versions, etc. bandwagon...... A waste of resources and a despicable effort to earn your hard earnt money. Evil. But back to the album. Overall, I prefer his self titled debut album to this, because in his first album, at least there were famous songs like "A Good Person, "Erica", "Hard Life" (Mang Ngang), "I'm Here Today" (Ngor Yau Gum Yaat), and "White X'Mas". The only consolation for buying this album is that it contains MV's with songs from his previous album. Well, it's now up to me and you to weigh on whether this purchase is worth it or not before buying it.

    July 1, 2006 Ram Chiang (Cheung Chi-kwong) Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
One of the best singers of his generation. I rank his singing voice and technique as great as Jacky Cheung, but unfortunately he's didn't have much success in the Cantopop market. We were glimpes of his singing glory in 1990 when he sung that famous song in duet with Rita Wai Yee-shan. Both of them are history, but I fondly remember them as one of Hong Kong finest Cantopop singers of their generation.

June 30, 2006 This is ONE Oz film...... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is one Australian film you can't afford to miss. If you're after in your face psychological sex thriller, this is it. I got the Australian version which was published by Hopscotch Films, and I loved it to bits! Okay, sex is inevitable, but that's pass the point. This is more of a psychological game between the estranged wife who's done hard by her husband, who know looks for revenge in form of a video cassette with her speaking of her frustrations in their relationship, then performing a sex act with their next door neighbour which really got the husband fired up with anger and cried with sadness throughout the period of this ordeal. The most harrowing thing is that the wife has taken their two kids away, so he shall not see their kids ever again. This film may shock you, and it would've earnt itself a category three rating in Hong Kong. Rolf de Heer, Gary Sweet, Helen Buday and the supporting cast put a firecracker gem of an Australian film that we Aussies can be extremely proud of. If you're Australian, please support our locally made films. Thank you.

    June 30, 2006 It's "Rain"ing In East Asia Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Anything better than Rain? One the hottest Korean male on the planet as we speak. I saw his Mandarin (putonghua) MV a few times on our TVBJ (part of Jadeworld - a Chinese pay t.v. service in Australia) for quite a few weeks now, and I was thoroughly impressed by his dance moves, his onscreen charisma, and the way he captures every East Asian women's hearts! What a stud! He lights up the t.v. screen on fire! This young man is sensational! Can't wait to purchase this album and his future DVD's. I love to watch the way he dances that got all women (and some men) mesmerised, with eyes glued to the t.v. screen.

June 30, 2006 A Solid Debut Effort From Lau Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
"Our Very Last Night" (Zhui Hou Yaat Yeh) was an award-winning song at TVB's "J.S.G. Best 10 Awards Presentation 1987", in which I believe won was the best music video performance award (please correct me if I'm wrong). Prudence was great on the stage and showed why she's the new "it" girl of Hong Kong's Cantopop in 1987. I hope the music stores will still have this classic CD in stock, otherwise I'll go mad. I believe this album was one of Prudence's finest.

June 26, 2006 Adoration For Our Leslie...... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Needles to say, the late Mr. Leslie Cheung Kwok-wing will always be in our hearts. His stunning onscreen charisma, his unequalled and mesmerising stage presence, and his lovely angelic singing voice shall forever be remembered. I literally grown up listening to Leslie from 1984 with the song "Monica", but I wasn't his fan. 1987 was the year I shall never forget. His performance at TVB's "J.S.G. Best 10 Awards Presentation 1987" was second to none. In my opinion, his stage performance was just as great as Alan Tam's, and in some Leslie's fans' eye, Leslie's was even better. He was full of vitality, full of fun and add a bit required sexiness in the performance in which got female fans smiling from ear to ear. This album, being one of his few recorded in Mandarin in the mid 1980's, is definitely a treasured item not to be missed. Go and buy it now, ladies and gents!

    June 26, 2006 David's A Legend Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This guy is an absolute legend. His sings with his heart and soul. You just can't help but be mesmerised by his songs and how he sings it. Each song track is his "baby", carefully nurturing the songs to perfection that you'll enjoy every single second of it. His compositions are top notch. The girls and young ladies swoon every time he sings a song. He captured their hearts. Wouldn't it be excellent if I was that talented and be adored by millions of female fans...... Just dream......dream, dream, dream......

June 26, 2006 La Femme Desperado of Cindy Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I watched Cindy's performance in Hong Kong TVB's "La Femme Desperado" and was pretty impressed. She's absolutely hot (in other words extremely beautiful and sexy) on screen and one talented actor. It's a pity I didn't buy this AVCD version which includes 2 MV's, I bought the first and original version, which don't have the MV's. She was that cute teenager who sung "Little Pill", who now blossomed into a possible serious contender for this year's supporting actress role in a TVB drama (only if she's up for nominations). I wish her continued success at TVB.
