June 26, 2006 This was Anthony at his peakThis album was probably a best seller and it had signalled to be the peak of of Anthony Lun's musical career. Produced by an independent record label - Bali Records Ltd., and marketed by World Record International Ltd., this album is nearly a winner for me. Anthony Lun started composing songs for Hong Kong's Cantopop singers since 1986/87, which includes most prominently Sandy Lam Yik-lin (whom he also produced a few albums for), and also to a much lesser degree, Jacky Cheung (still my No. 1 idol), etc...... He made his mark as a pop singer (who also composes his own songs for himself to sing) since 1988/89. Tracks one and eight were most probably the songs that topped the local Hong Kong pop music charts at that time. Back then in 1990, I only known this guy by his face, not his name. The piano man who wears spectacles and can sing, pretty nicely. He's that gentle gentleman with a classic touch to his every performance. Track one was the Cantonese version of Chang Hung-liang's song of the same title. Chang Hung-liang was the hottest newcomer from Taiwan. Back then he won Gold over the other two newcomers from Taiwan for Hong Kong TVB's "J.S.G. Best 10 Awards Presentation 1990" Best Newcomer Award. The other two won silver and bronze respectively. Track eight was beautifully written with heart which won Anthony many Hong Kong listeners' hearts. Other tracks were well sung too. If you're a fan of Anthony's, please don't miss the opportunity to buy his 1990 best seller. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 23, 2006 Call me a Socceroos' nutYes, I have a confession to make. This is my third review on Group F, simply because I adore the Socceroos. They have great team spirit which I believe the whole world saw in the past three matches. Now Australia is through to the second round after 2 all draw with Croatia. It was a very tense match, in which six or seven Aussie players have Croatian heritage, while Croatia had three Aussie born players in their football squad. There were at times that we were looking at defeat, but it was persistance and team spirit that got the Socceroos through with Harry Kewell scoring his first goal in the 3 FIFA World Cup Group F football matches in the 79th minute. That was the second goal which got us through to the second round of competition. Our next opponent will be Italy. Whether we will win or not win or possibly draw in the next match, I strongly believe with our continuing Aussie fighting spirit, we will win many hearts of the world's football community. Australian has matured to be a force to reckoned with. We can finally play with the best in the world. We shown that against football supremos - Brasil (result 2-0 loss to us). They didn't score until the second half, proving to the world that we had a strong defence against them. Next, we shall try our utmost best against the Italians. Credit to Guus Hiddink, our Socceroos' FIFA World Cup campaign at Germany continues...... Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 23, 2006 A few of my ATV's fav. songsAfter listening and watching to this whole 3 CD + DVD set, there are a few clear favourite songs of mine from this. They include Disc 1: tracks 01, 02, 05, 06, 11-14, disc 2: tracks 02, 04, 06, 11, 16, 17, disc 3: tracks 02, 04, 05, 08-11, 13-17. Bonus DVD: I love all MV's, because at least I get to see shots from various ATV series. But to tell you the truth, I love the majority of songs from Disc 3, because I'm more familiar with its singers (whom some were ATV actors). I absolutely adore "Qin Shihuang" (track 02), "Tian Huang Di Lao" (track 05), "Ma Shang Ying Zi" (track 09), "Feng Huo Qing Tian" (track 10), and, "Today's Love Report" (track 11), because these singers sing these songs with so much feeling and conviction......the songs just blew me away. If you're a fan of ATV t.v. dramas, you must buy this now. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 20, 2006 My Journey With Angela ChangAngela Chang Shao-han is a lovely singer with a lovely singing voice. She's has an "x" factor in her. Although in my opinion, her first song "Over The Rainbow" is average (don't get me wrong, she has a lovely singing voice, it's just her English pronounciation in this song is just slightly off the hook), the rest of the album is top dog. "Over The Rainbow" is just as nice Judy Garland's back in 1939, but with a unique Angela Chang take on the song. Track two has a slight music influence from a traditional Christmas carol - "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen". Track 7, another hit for the Hong Kongers was also extremely good. She sings that song so effortlessly with grace. "Journey", the last track is much better than "Over The Rainbow", because her English have obviously improved in here. I loved the 5 MV recorded on the bonus VCD. It shows Angela's beauty, charisma, grace and talent in her visual performances. The singing and/or the dancing in each MV was well done to my expectations. The photos of Angela is very lovely in the lyric booklet, she also looks very good on the front and back covers of this beautiful album. I simply would love to say like what James Blunt has been singing - "You're Beautiful" to my dearest Angela Chang Shao-han. Take care. Peace. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 17, 2006 Tonight's The Night!Australia versus Brasil tonight (Monday, 2 a.m. AEST) on SBS Television (television channel 0/28). Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra, Adelaide, Perth, Darwin, and Hobart, please brass yourselves for a history in the making of a night. Watch the ultimate football match between the world's No. 42 to the world's No. 1 (in official FIFA world football rankings). Ready to samba Downunder?! Are we going to draw? Or are we going to win? Or may be, regrettably lose? Anyway, I hope the Socceroos will attack and defend effectively against Brasil to at least draw with the Brasil team for this football match of their lives. June 14, 2006 My Dearest Rammie......You're the next potential newcomer awards winner, especially when it comes to upcoming Hit Music Awards (Cantonese: Ging Bao). I noticed how hard you tried to impress us with your singing, and your duet with Gia Lin Yuan was beautiful both in voice and on-screen from the "Perfect Match" CD + DVD. To me, you're downright beautiful. Beauty, talent and charisma was there for us music lovers to enjoy. This year's lot of newcomers may surpass the number of newcomers for last year's lot, and sorry, I haven't been counting. There's too many of you gals and lads out there. Just too impossible to count! I may or may not buy your album, it depends......, because at home, I have a massive CD/VCD/DVD library which contains hundreds of CDs. Now I just have to find available space to put it in one my music CD cabinets. Crikey! Deary Me! Anyway, Rammie, all the best, my girl. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 14, 2006 I'm back for you, my Vivian...My dearest Vivian: How nice is it to see you, being forever youthful and beautiful, and, now hitting the airwaves, the net and the music stores again? You're one talented beauty. You can compose music for herself and for others. Your voice may not be as powerful as other "sut lik pai" singers, but you have a soft and emotionally driven singing voice that can move the listener to smile or to cry. You listeners, probably agree with me on that. And I love you, Vivian, all for that. You were a part-time radio DJ whom also has talent on the piano. Now enjoying your time with your loving boyfriend (and my goodness, he's talented and handsome. Good on you, my dear). I love this 3 CD + Karaoke DVD. Great value for money, and great for my audio and visual pleasure. Please enjoy, all you Vivan Chow and Chinese pop music fans. I wish you, Vivian, all the best for the future, and I hope, if you may, please come to Sydney, Australia to hold a concert at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. We, Aussie fans shall love you more for it. I'll pray that you may come. Cheers and God bless, my dear. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 12, 2006 The World's Beautiful GameThe FIFA World Cup established in 1930 with the first game played in Uruguay 1930. 76 years is a major achievement for the world's most "beautiful" game. I started watching The FIFA World Cup in 1994 when the United States of America hosted the football games. I watched a fair bit of the last World Cup which was held at the beautiful countries of Japan and Korea. Now, I'm hoping to watch more of it, since Australia had last qualified for the World Cup in 1974, which was also surprisingly held in Germany. To make a second appearance this year, makes our Socceroos' campaign all the worth it under the superb direction of one of the world's wonder coaches - Guus Hiddink, especially after the 2001 heartbreak of losing to Uruguay. We were that close to winning. Tony Vidmar's face painted all our raw and sad emotions on that fateful night in 2001. It's time to win (at least into the second round). Cheers! Peace. Zai jian. June 12, 2006 May The Best Team Wins!!!"The Group of Death" as they been categorised by the Australian media. Group F is definitely the toughest group in the whole tournament. Brasil is ranked No. 1 (in FIFA world rankings), then followed by Japan in 15th position, Croatia comes 20th, with Australia (the country I shall be supporting all the way until they're wiped out of the FIFA World Cup) coming 49th in this group. Brasil is the most likely team to advance into the semis and may be into the grand final. As you probably know, every team in the world is after Brasil for the coveted World Cup. I'll be happy if Australia makes a sincere effort to round 2. They have to win both Japan and Croatia to advance into the next round of competition. Tonight, Australian Eastern Standard Time in Sydney of 10:30 p.m. (Monday), the truth will be revealed whether our men will make it. I hope the result will be 1-0, 2-0, 2-1, 3-2 or even better, 3-1 for a win in our Socceroos' favour. May God look over them, and I sincerely wish them best of luck for tonight. I'll be at Wenty Leagues Club tonight to watch the game with 100's of Socceroo supporters at its Wentworth Bar. Hope to see you there, whoever lives here locally in the Holroyd City Council area in Sydney's central west. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 9, 2006 Leo's cool songs of 1994-1998Leo was a great singer from the word go. Remember the classics like "Laugh Talk and Imagine" (Siu Shuet Seung), "Blue Skies and White Clouds", "You're My Sunshine and Air", "Explanation of Love", "Every Sunrise", "My Second Beloved", "Actually I...I...I...", etc...... They're other song I believe I haven't heard before in which includes tracks 06, 10, 11 and 15. I believe this album will be great. This compilation album, I think was a bestseller for Leo in 1998 (please correct me if I'm wrong. Ta). Anyway, don't miss the opportunity to own your piece of Leo as you all know him back in the mid 1990's. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 7, 2006 Our beautiful Kevin ChengWith only two song and two MV's, you probably think this single isn't worth it. But these two songs are well sung and the MV's are of top notch quality. By the way, apparently the songs were written by the legend - Mr. Liu Jiachang. It should be very good. Liu's reputation and Kevin's popularity will be based on how well recieved this single shall be one it reaches into the consumers' hands. Kevin's Mandarin is actually pretty good. I give him 10/10 for that. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 6, 2006 Fitto, Fitto, Go! Go! Go!I remember the best of Fitto came in the period of 1990-1994 (although their music recording history is officially from the year of 1986 to year 2000). You have Maple, Chilam, Cheung Chi-kwong, Wai Yi-shan, Christopher, Joyce, Bondy, Veronica, Evelyn, Choi Chai-man, and Leung Ngai-ling singing to your heart and soul. They will definitely make you happy and contented with their lovely singing voices. In my opinion, these are several of the best solo and duet songs of 1990-1994 in Hong Kong pop music biz. Definitely not to be missed, buy these 2 CD's now. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 6, 2006 These Brothers Sings Superbly! The Cheung Brothers are at it again, doing what they're best at, singing duet songs. The best harmonising brothers in Chinese pop. I love their songs and I must say, they are absolute pros. Nothing in this world can match their chemistry and charisma on the stage. They look great and they can sing great. I noticed these guys since 1994, especially after I bought a various Hong Kong pop artists' album from Capital Artists Limited - "Extraordinary Compilation Vol. 1" (Cantonese: Fei Yaat Boon Jing Shuen Vol. 1); in which contains this song sung by them - "Once The Stars Don't Accompany Me Anymore" (Cantonese: Dong Sing Gwong Butt Boon Ngor). It's track 4 of that album. Back to this DVD, you must buy this DVD now, otherwise you'll regret the rest of your life for not purchasing this worthy DVD. You must believe me, that you'll love it once you experience the heavenly performance of the duo on DVD. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 5, 2006 All About Our Shirley In 2006Shirley Kwan Suk-yi, a name familiar to old fans as far back as 1989; with Shirley making a revival in 2001 with her first Mandarin album - "Freezing Flame", and this year, with her most recent Cantonese album - "About Me". She's a lovely and talented singer, and deserves all the necessary attention and accolades for her courageous comeback to the Cantopop music industry. I wish her continued success in her singing career. This is a concert album not to be missed on your "to buy list". 2 CD's, 31 songs, 2 1/2 hours of pure listening enjoyment, which will feed your mind and your soul. Believe me, act now, before this album sells out. Enjoy. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 4, 2006 Wacky horror comedy of 1986This is Loretta Lee Lai-chun when she was 13-15 years old performing in her earlier leading movie roles, way before the category III sex/-horror films she acted in 1993 and 1994, and definitely way, way before she acted in a few TVB dramas and more critical films which earned her praises for her performances and accolades from the public, her peers and the movie critics in the late 1990's to the present. This film was a light-hearted horror comedy film, produced in 1986, with her starring along Bill Tung Piu, Lydia Shum Din-ha, etc... It was more funny than it being frightening. Bill Tung and Lydia Shum are just one of the best on-screen couples. Off screen, they're the best of mates. I recommend to anybody who like the earlier works of Loretta, Lydia and the late Bill Tung, and of other cast members. Enjoy. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 4, 2006 Denise Ho.cc's Time Has Come..Her time has come for her to shine as a bright beacon for any aspiring pop artists who currently find it extremely hard and emotionally draining to get their foot in the door of this dynamic and cut-throat industry of Hong Kong pop music. Some of the current crop of Cantopop singers will look up to her as their "Big Sister", like what the late Miss Anita Mui Yim-fong did for her. This album is out of this world. The music is great, the lyrics are nice and the musical arrangement is just cool..... And without a doubt, Denise put her heart and soul into this musical production. My hats off to her and the team behind the album's production. I wish Hocc continued success in Chinese pop for many years to come. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 4, 2006 13 + 3 = A lovely combination13 songs, plus 3 MV's on DVD. It just doesn't get any better than this. This newcomer is on fire to be the next big thing in Hong Kong pop music. Bianca Wu's "Love Notes" should get you warm to her lovely singing. I watched her MV on TVBJ (part of Jadeworld, a Chinese pay t.v. service in Australia), and I was thoroughly impressed with her performance in the MV. She got the necessary charisma to pull it off. Nice. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

June 3, 2006 I have nothing but praise.....Danny Summer, you're definitely a legend. Although you haven't sung a song for yonks, I still remember vividly of your heart rendering performance of a sad filial song for some fathers whom had past away - "Empty Chair" at a "J.S.G. Best 10 Awards Presentation" in the mid 1980's. I love that song to bits. I even got one copy of the song from one of the commemorative CD albums of the late Mr. Richard Lam. I strongly recommend to Danny Summer's fans and music lovers alike buy this album at all costs. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
