A trio of skirt-chasing lotharios go head-to-head-to-head in Hong Kong Playboys, a Shaw Brothers comedy directed by hitmaker Wong Jing, and featuring kung-fu star Alexander Fu Sheng in one of his final roles! Sheng (Alexander Fu) is a notorious swinging playboy who still feels second place to suave king-of-playboys Valentine (Patrick Tse). Coming in a distant third is the somewhat homely Lolanto (Nat Chan), who's in the game to net a rich wife to save his father's company. The three men ante up to capture the heart of beautiful AND rich Mao Ying Ying (Chin Wai Yee), daughter to grizzled triad boss Shih Kien! Sheng gives it his all, and appears to be leading the pack, but can he follow through with his plans? Or will adorable, bespectacled Ah Mei (Cherie Chung) change his mind? Madcap antics, terrific star turns, and even the occasional bout of kung-fu action makes Hong Kong Playboys a winning eighties comedy!

The fast-paced complications and gambits are made bittersweet by the serformance of renowned kung-fu hero, Alexander Fu Sheng, who proved to be an utterly charming comedic star.Sadly he was soon to be killed in a tragic car crash-essentially making him the "James Dean of Hong Kong."

Slapdash comedy
| Typical of Wong Jing's slapstick comedy, this movie feels like they were making it up on the fly. The resolution of the movie, while predictable, simply doesn't flow from what came before. Why in the world would Cherie Chung's character be interested in Fu Sheng's character, who has spent the entire movie behaving like a shallow, selfish boob? I'm probably being too generous in my rating of this movie, but there are a few genuinely funny moments, Nat Chan gives one of his better performances, and Cherie is just so darned cute! |

Great comedy star Fu Sheng
| Besides Michael Hui (Kuan Wen), Fu Sheng is my next favourite comedian. He can play both types of roles in Shaw Bros' collections - kungfu and comedy. Neither Chow Sing Chi and Jet Li can do that well. His acting in Hong Kong Playboy is dynamic and humourous. It is a waste he passed away during his young age, a great loss in entertainment field. |

Fu Sheng; Shaw's last best star
| This was Fu Sheng's last full film. This was his full fledge comedy after 30 martial arts films(either serious or with comedy). It's a pity to see such a talent with amazing comic timing be forgotten over the years. This films reminds us, he's still one of the best and lovable, more so than Jet li or Jackie Chan. Look out for Heroes 2 dvd, he plays Jet Li's part from Fong Sai Yuk, he plays it million times better in all departments. |

Hong Kong Playboys
| Alexander Fu Sheng's comedy about how a womaniser found his true love after several encounters. Humour, funny... but least of all, is Fu Sheng's comical and exaggerating performance. Hope to see Fu Sheng's kung fu movies like Shao Lin Temple; afterall he is a kung fu superstar ! |
