Sammo Hung is Ting, an overweight jewelry company employee who's blamed by boss Ms. Chou (Leung Saan) for the theft of a large sum of cash. Incensed at his employers, Ting plots to kidnap Ms. Chou and ransom her for a hefty ransom, but he accidentally kidnaps her stepdaughter Jo (gorgeous Joey Wang) instead! However, before Ting even discovers his mistake, Jo is re-kidnapped by slimy co-worker Biu (Kenny Bee), who's none too happy with management himself. Eventually the two would-be kidnappers discover their mistake, and decide to ransom Jo instead. But Mrs. Chou would rather see Jo dead than part with anything resembling a large amount of cash. Will the kidnappers and the lovable Jo find a way to strike back at the Scrooge-like Mrs. Chou? Co-starring Anthony Chan, To Err is Humane is a delightfully funny and not-too-dark comedy with terrific comic performances from Sammo Hung and Kenny Bee!

　　肥丁（洪金寶）在一間珠寶貿易行工作，常被周太（梁珊）和受到其弟（曹查理）刻薄，阿B（鍾鎮濤）在同一間公司的貨運部工作。肥丁和阿B有一次被委送鑽石給中東長睇辦，事後送款到銀行，途中遇劫，阿B與肥丁被誣告與匪串謀，肥丁遂暗謀標周太參以便勒索。誰知黃雀在後，肥丁陰差陽錯下錯標祖兒（王祖賢），回家後又被阿B將祖兒標回家。

　　肥丁向周家勒索，而阿B又向肥丁勒索，周家報警後，王幹探（陳友）查案時鬧出笑話連篇……

　　Samo and Kenny are lowly employees of a jewelry shop. Samo too often is the target of abuse from the manageress. One day the two are sent to show the diamonds to a sheik. They are robbed on their way to the bank. One by one they are being accused to be in collusion with the robbers. That makes Samo very angry. To get even, he plans to kidnap the manageress. Kenny somehow learns of the plot. Samo gets the wrong woman, y kidnapping Joel. Before he can say ABC, Kenny comes along and kidnaps Joel from Samo. Samo demands a ransom from the shop. Kenny asks Samo for a ransom. Both of them come up with nothing, of course. Not exactly nothing because when they go back to work, they find Joel has taken over the shop. And she apparently thinks kindly of her kidnapper Samo.

In "Too Err is Humane", jewelry company drone Ting (Sammo Hung) is accused by his boss Mrs. Chou (Leung Saan) of embezzlement. Stung by the accusation, Ting craves revenge. He plots to kidnap Mrs. Chou and hold her for ransom. Ting proves to be an incompetent kidnapper; instead of nabbing Mrs. Chou, he mistakenly snatches her unloved stepdaughter Jo (Joey Wang). Ting's shiftless co-worker Biu (Kenny Bee), who Mrs. Chou has castigated for his sloppy work, decides that he wants a piece of Ting's action. He tries to blackmail Ting by threatening to reveal him as the kidnapper. Due to their mutual ineptitude, Ting and Biu end up colluding in their efforts to salvage something of value out of Ting's kidnapping blunder.

While this premise is promising, the film's execution often is plodding, with too many diversions and sidetracks. Nonetheless, the movie is worth watching to see Sammo and Kenny in these atypical roles. Kenny carries off his role as a grifter with a deft comic touch. Sammo manages something more interesting. He employs his physicality for laughs, but combines it with a weirdly hostile intensity that reminds me a bit of Michael Douglas's role in "Falling Down".
