The true story of Dr. Joanna Tse, who sacrificed her life for taking care of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) patients during the deadly disaster in Hong Kong 2003, is adapted to Adrian Kwan's new film "The Miracle Box" casting TV-series lead protagonist Ada Choi as Joanna.

The film centers on the love story of Joanna (Ada Choi) and her husband Albert (Tse Kwan-ho) who is a house doctor diagnosed as having blood cancer. Despite the fatal disease, Albert continues to wear a smile in front of his patients. Losing her husband, Joanna has prepared herself to take up the challenge to look after the SARS patients since Albert's love has already made a change in Joanna's life…

"The Miracle Box" rocks the box office with HK$6.4 million. Both director Adrian Kwan ("If U Care...," "Life is a Miracle") and lead actress Ada Choi are very satisfied with the film. Choi even claimed that it was her masterpiece since she launched her acting career.

　　Joanna (Ada Choi) from an early age wants nothing more than to become a physician. She later meets Albert (Tse Kwn Ho), a cancer survivor and fellow doctor. Having been on both sides of the fence, Albert takes Joanna under His wing and teaches her the intricacies of patient care. Soon, what started out as a teacher-student relationship blossoms into romance and the two later consummated their love in matrimony.

　　But their happiness is cut short as Albert receives news that His cancer has returned. Despite this devastating turn, Albert never once lost faith. He encourages His wife to carry on even as His body is slowly eaten away by this deadly disease. He believes that God placed her here for a reason and will eventually reveal His plans.

The Miracle Box- Opens True Meaning of Life

Love makes ordinary people do extraordinary things. In The Miracle Box, the ordinary person is a young girl who devotes her whole life to the medical world. Setbacks striking her one by one do this doctor no harm but equip her to become a better person. Even though her life ends very tragically , the love and care that she passed on during her short but meaningful existence stands the test of time.

"Sorrow is not to be shown but buried into these miracle boxes". Backed up by such an optimistic philosophy, ex-doctor Albert (Tse Kwan-ho) radiates his passion and joy to patients and colleagues around him every day despite suffering from leukaemia. Sharing the same will to serve the sick, Joanna (Ada Choi), however, favors her own dream of entering an Australian medical school before the health of her patients at first. However her encounter with Albert instils her life with new meaning. Not only does Albert bestow her with the greatest love of all but also a pair of healing hands that touch the heart and soul of many patients. Although these two lovebirds both become the victims of fatal illnesses, their story is kept safe in a miracle box. The people of Hong Kong believe that these two heroes have been reborn in another world out of our reach as the box keeps circulating and spreading the message of living a meaningful life no matter how long it may last.

The Miracle Box is a true story based on the love and lives of Dr. Joanna Tse and her husband. Her brave voluntary services turned her into a heroine during the SARS attack in Hong Kong. As dreadful as the memories The Miracle Box carries may be , the movie reminds us of the courage and determination the medical forces armed themselves with during one of Hong Kong's most desperate times. Adrian Kwan, the director who was responsible for several other gospel movies including If U Care and Life is a Miracle, said that he was honored to make this movie. According to the director, The Miracle Box is not simply here to make the audience cry. He added that shedding of tears may be an unavoidable side-effect caused by this touching film, but that it would just be a waste of time if those tears could not guide you to understand the true meaning of life. Ada Choi, the leading lady of the movie furthermore expressed that love can help you weather the storm and take you safe and sound to the shore of life.

Truely Great and Touching Movie Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The movie is about the real life story of doctor "Joanne Tse". It share her life story with her husband who had cancer and how they both find strength in "God" to fight on. It also talk about the SAR's outbreak in Hong Kong and how doctors care for their patiences and fight the virus. The casts in the movie all did a wonderful jobs, especially Ada choi Siu Fun who play Dr. Joanne Tse in movie. The movie really touch the human heart and I highly recommand it.

I've watched the film as part of church choir's gathering with discussion on the film afterward. It was a excellent film. So good, that I borrowed it for my family to watch. They're athiests. They loved the film too. Tse Kwan-ho and Ada Choi, plus the supporting cast like Shum Kin-fun, Cheng Pei-pei, etc. were just fantastic. The scene where Ada's character's is crying was very moving. There was a tear lingering at the corner of my eye. Sometimes, when we're in desperation when facing adversity, we sometimes do question whether God is looking after us. I had many occasions of that, doubting The Lord's presence, because I have more downs than ups in my life due to personal reasons. Whether or not you're a Christian, or belong to any faith, this film will surely lift your spirits at the end. 10/10.

This is a great movie. It brings the love between the characters by the little items the couple share together. And at the end, their heroic deaths makes the audience further feel the loss of these two lovers. I think overall it's a well done movie.

Like she said, this is probably the best she has filmed so far. The story can be improved upon a bit with better flow, but overall it's an excellent film capturing the love between this doctor couple. It keeps itself very subtle in expressing the faith and belief of the leading characters while provoking the audience enough to think about it.
