南帝北丐兩大風雲人物
各顯神通叱吒武林

　　段智興（鄭伊健）隨母在靈鷲宮長大，奉母之命往大理尋找生父段正淳，但受淳弟從中作梗，其母後為救淳而死，興因此一直不原諒父親。直至淳一次以死相救，兩父子始冰釋前嫌。興最後登上皇位，成為南帝。

　　北丐洪七（魏駿傑）本為富家公子，生性豪放，廣交武林豪傑。七尤與丐幫中人投緣，輾轉間更與丐幫淨衣派長老之女程雪芯（黃小燕）相戀，並捲入淨衣、污衣兩派的鬥爭中。最後七接任丐幫幫主，並練成降龍十八掌及打狗棒法兩大藝世神功。

　　興與七為莫逆之交，後被人挑撥離間，為「武穆遺書」而反目，形成亦敵亦友的矛盾關係……
