The Hui Brothers created films that saved the Hong Kong film industry and Cantonese films in the 1970s. Led by the eldest Michael Hui, with siblings Ricky Hui and Sam Hui, created comedy classics that defined a generation and changed the face of Hong Kong films forever. Michael Hui wrote, directed and starred in comedies that focused on lives on the ordinary working-class Hong Kong residents, the satirical yet compassionate portrayals of life in Hong Kong touched the masses and rescued Cantonese films from being wiped out by Mandarin productions. Their films, with the hugely popular theme songs, made the Hui Brothers legends of Hong Kong. The Hui Brothers DVD Boxset contains the classic comedies that are must-sees if you love Hong Kong films!

This boxset contains the five Hui Brothers box office smash hits: Games Gamblers Play (1974), The Last Message (1975), The Private Eyes (1976), The Contract (1978), and Security Unlimited (1981). Not only are they smash hits in their time, these films are also undisputed classics that is now seen as a reflection of Hong Kong in the 70s and 80s. The DVD also includes some bonus features, including "Sam Hui's nine minutes" music featurette and never-before-seen footage: "Sam Hui vs Sammo Hung". All the DVD are produced with Dolby 5.1 and DTS surround sound, contains original Cantonese or Mandarin soundtracks, as well as Chinese and English subtitles!

Excellent Era of Comedy - where's Half Pound II? Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
These were the best comedies of the era. In the late 80's. Great rewatch value. A must have for Hong Kong people.

I recall they made a sequel to Half Pound Eight Ounces. It wasn't as good as the original but still pretty funny. That movie was called "The Front Page". And it really belongs to this collection too. Hope they release that soon.
