Double (Taiwan Version)

YesAsia Editorial Description

While Vicki Zhao's tender voice in her previous album Piao delighted many fans, she turns to rap, which she has never tried before, in her latest work Double. Though busy making films such as the popular A Time to Love last year, she never stopped working on her music. Her latest hit "Shang Guan Yan and Me" perhaps best demonstrates her unique mixing of folk music and rap. The producer gave Vicki a lot of freedom to express herself when producing the song, and her natural and unpretentious rap style has been unexpectedly well-received. Vicki's quality music will surely offer fans Double pleasure!

big improvement Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
vicki's singing definetel improved a lot in this album compared to her other albums...I personally didn't like any of her past albums (except when u first came out with her shallow album b/c i thought her cute voice went with the lyrics) because her voice still had some very kiddy expression to it, but this one her voice matured a lot...her songs are better this time too...she's finally catching up to being a talented singer...I personally like song no. 1, 5, 10, 8 but for once in an album, i actually like almost all of the songs in here and I was not a fan of her in the past...but i think I will give her more chances from now on since she is showing great improvements in her singing career...

Ppl who havent tried vicki album yet, this is the one to listen to..

not a single moment of disappointment Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
having been a loyal tv fan of vicki's series as well as a new fan of her music after listening to the fantastic Piao, i was looking forward to what Vicki had to offer and boy was i not disappointed..
Double i guess represents the contrasting styles that she has adopted here - the slow melodious love songs wherein her smooth voice blends in as well as the fast paced disco-like songs that make you want to stand up and dance.
Vicki's voice is unique, it has a child-like innocence to it, and where she once used it to promote a cute image of Xiaoyanzi, she now uses it effortlessly to songs that show of her melodious and soothing voice. Her slow love songs are similar to that in Piao and it is recommendable to just lie down in bed and soak in the music. As for her fast songs, they are comparable to Sammi Cheng's i daresay, except maybe they are not so heavily techno-lised.
Overall a great album, i must add that i love het fast-paced tracks the most and they are constantly on repeat mode in my player.

A New Refreshing Album from Vicki Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Okay, so when I first listend to my 'Piao' CD that I got (to try it out). , I was disappointed. So then I put it away and never took it out again. This was because I never really liked Vicki's voice.
Now DOUBLE comes out. I read the reviews and most of them were positive, with 5 stars. I was really surprised. The cover obviously is beautiful (I like Vicki's appearance), but I still had no ambition to buy it. A while later I listened to some sample songs online, and at the first listen I was like, "Ok, this is not bad!" Then I bought the album and listened some more, and boy am I amazed! Vicki's voice has improved so much, and I probably didn't notice before since I didn't listen to 'Piao' as thoroughly. I started listening to this album everyday, and I still love it. Vicki's voice is pure and solid at the same time. There are a variety of genres, with ballads that are not too slow and poppy songs that have charisma. This album gives me a refreshed, relaxing feeling. It's good to listen to when you're alone or stressed. I now definitely will give my "Piao" CD another chance. Vicki has definitely went beyond my expectations! I want to wish her the best of luck in her movie/music career, and hope to see/hear more from the talented Vicki. I also want to thank the great reviews here for motivating me to buy this album. It is worth every penny^_^

Bravo! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Vicki's voice has improved tremendously in this cd. There were a couple of 'shaky' notes in her singing in PIAO, but this DOUBLE is flawless. Her continued efforts have resulted in a perfect album. Now all she needs is to concentrate on improving her acting style. She was wonderful in her early dramas (HZGG and QSSYMM) but somehow in some of her movies she seemed 'subdued' and sometimes minus a spark, charisma, and almost a lack of energy. Hope she finds time to study and emulate some of those veteran stars who 'emote' so well on screen.

The Talented Vicki... Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Is there anything that Vicki cannot do? Sing any style music, act and still find time to look gorgeous. She's just perfect! I am so delighted to have a high-quality CD to interchange with "Piao" I don't know what to do... Both are unique and quite different, but both are Vicki and thus glorious in their own way. OH...to the person who mentioned about not to get frustrated when the site moves release dates back: that sounds nice in theory, but people DO get annoyed when dates are moved. Especially when it keeps the rest of an order from shipping on time also. Plus...you MUST remember that not everyone in America (and other places too, I expect...) has the option of running to a Chinese music store to buy the particular CD. Many of us MUST rely on an internet site for our imports. And while YESASIA is top of almost anyone's list...there has been a problem lately of SEVERAL CDs being moved back from their original release date. So, try not to be angry at people who are upset to see dates moved back...we just have no where else to buy them and must wait until the site has the item available. Just my thought. In the meantime...at least know that THIS CD (I cannot speak for the other delayed CDs, because to my knowledge, they STILL have not released...) is worth any wait. So, now that it is here, listen and enjoy and admire Vicki for all her talents. She really is an inspiration!
