Inspired by the devastating tsunami that hit numerous South Asian countries on Boxing Day 2004, action thriller 13-04-2022 Tsunami is the first big-budget, effects-laden disaster movie from Thailand. With a reported 160-million-baht price tag, the 2009 Thai film helmed by veteran director Torranong Srichuer took several years to make, and stars Pisarn Srimunkong, Sirinda Jensen, and Panudeth Wattanasuchart. Set in the year 2022, the film hypothesizes a Bangkok annihilated by the giant tsunami resulted from a massive earthquake. Intended to warn against neglecting the environment, or else humanity would have to pay when disasters strike, the filmmakers wisely wrapped the message in a package of high entertainment value that the audience would find easier to embrace.
This version comes with some nice special features like a making-of, a photo gallery, trailer, and the music video for the theme song Save the Earth.
