YesAsia Editorial Description

Popular star Aaron Kwok is Peter, a computer programmer who's drawn into a deadly hunt for a computer virus when his brother Greg (Ray Lui) is exposed as a CIA agent. Suddenly, Peter is being pursued by Interpol agent Andrew Lin Hoi, Hong Kong cop Francis Ng, Singaporean secret agent James Lye, and Greg's old girlfriend Phyllis Quek, who may or may not be all that she seems. Peter doesn't know who he can trust, but he's got mysterious thugs chasing him from Hong Kong to Singapore, and only his most trusted friend (Daniel Wu) to help him out. Can they prevent the virus from falling into the wrong hands?

Director Gordon Chan (Jackie Chan's Thunderbolt) helms 2000 A.D., an international techno-thriller with an impressive international cast. Aaron Kwok and Lin Hoi provide action presence, while Phyllis Quek and Daniel Wu handle the photogenic sex appeal. Character actor Francis Ng dazzles in an intense supporting performance, which earned him acting honors from both the Hong Kong Film Awards and the Hong Kong Film Critics Society. Featuring popular stars and thrilling, dynamic action sequences, 2000 A.D. is a top treat for action fans everywhere!

lots of violence Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
this movie contains lots of violence. lots of gun shootings. after watching so many of these kinds of action movies i got tired of this stuff and besides it's really bad for the mind to watch all these bad things. this movie is not for kids will scare the heck out of them. i don't like violence. changed and relaxed with romance and comedy movies instead. that is better for the mind and soul.

No... Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
Aaron Kwok and Daniel Wu computer programers... I couldn't buy it. Only give this movie a 4 because of Francis Ng... He's always good. Otherwise the movie is trash. I didn't see nothing special.. Action was not good.

great film Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I never thought Aaron could act so well. Not only can he dance and sing, but his acting is excellent. He looked so funny when I first saw him with those thick-framed glasses at the beginning. He and Daniel look like total nerds--cute nerds. I like the way Aaron acts. This movie is worth buying.

Well-shot Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
"2000AD" deserves a lot of credibility, and though it may seem to have a typical plot, it's actually well-done in many aspects - plot and characters are well-developed. Directed by Gordan Chan - a well-recognized action director, the action is heightened because the special effects team is that of huge hit: Independence Day. Aaron gives a solid performance and his motives are not questionable because plot is strong in most aspects. There were awesome action scenes (but don't expect a Jet Li-type masterpiece), but also the first Asian film to feature the main character actually flying F16 planes. Richard Ng also plays an excellent role. An incredible cast also includes Daniel Wu, James Lye, and Lin Hoi. Lin Hoi is the actor who usually plays the bad-guy, and his impressive works include "Blacksheep Affairs" with Zhou Wen Zhuo. The ending isn't stupid, and most things are not predictable. Performances by the excellent cast were heightened by special effects, lighting, camera angles, and the props (F16s....) And best of all is that the DVD version of "2000AD" has behind-the-scenes footage. This footage is available with "2000AD"'s photobook, however the VCD that comes with the photobook is dubbed in Mandarin only. Thus, the DVD version is so much better since it includes both Mandarin and original/Cantonese versions of behind-the-scenes footage!

Thought it would suck, but... Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
Aaron and Daniel were so believeable as nerds. Now that's acting for you. I was surprised in that the story could have easily gone the typical revenge bloodbath, as I was expecting, but it didn't. The characters had values, morals, that made them more real. It wasn't a comic book, there are consequences for their actions, and they dealt with that well at the end. Kung fu fighting, SFX, disturbing violence, cute girls, sympathetic nerds. What more could you ask for? Solid movie.
