YesAsia Editorial Description

In this media obsessed world, where information can be obtained from so many sources, what news contain the 'truth' and what qualifies to be the daily headline on A-1? With a cast of award winners including Angelica Lee, Anthony Wong and Tony Leung Ka Fai, they join forces to try and find out the truth behind the story!

Directed by Jordan Chan, written by Chung Gai-chang and produced by Fruit Chan, A-1 takes on the Hong Kong media, where getting to the truth behind a news story can prove dangerous and difficult, and exposes other stories that people in power would rather see buried for good! Ling (Angelica Lee) works as a fashion and trend reporter in a paper, whose boyfriend died in a car accident a day after their breakup. Anthony Wong and Eric Kok play debt collectors after Ling, but begin to help her seek the suspicious death of her boyfriend. At the same time, Ling's editor-in-chief (Tony Leung Ka Fai) begins to act strangely, insisting that Ling drop the investigation. At the same time, Ling realizes that her boyfriend was investigating a case right before his death involving a millionaire's son, who is on the verge of acquiring the newspaper she is working at. Is her boyfriend murdered and is her editor trying to suppress the truth?

This film tackles the media in a more realist light, discussing the intricate connections between the media, the law, and the outlaws. With a great supporting cast which includes idol Edison Chen, this is a refreshing and thought provoking film from Hong Kong this year.

Ling(Lee) is a fashion columnist whose ex-boyfriend died in a car accident. Debt collectors Fei(Wong) and Ma (Kot) are eyewitnesses on the scene and Fei is certain that Peter's death is more than just an accident. The weird and suspicious act that Chief Editor Tsang (Leung) recently displays convinces Ling of what Fei says. Ling pleads for the assistance of both Fei and Ma. With Newspaper photographer Kei (Chen) also volunteering to help, the quartet embanks on a journey to track down the truth.

As Ling gets hold of the leads that will unquestionably outrage the society once it hits the headline, the newspaper corporation, to her shock, has already been acquired by a tycoon, who now becomes her boss. After all, how much truth will tomorrow's headline news reveal?

Awesome! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This movie talks about what the real truth is and the obligation & attitude of the media when they convey the truth to the public, which haven't been the way it should be nowadays.

Good actors, good script, good director & producers combined together brought an awesome movie.

not interesting at all... Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
hate to say it but this movie was boring. there was nothing interesting enough to grab your attention. i watched the whole movie hoping it would get good, but then the ending credits started rolling and i knew that i sat through a whole lot of nothing. its supposed to be a mystery but i'm not sure it was even solved. the acting was really good but there was nothing else there...

Good story... wasted Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
The meaning of the movie is great and meaningful.. but it is wasted by the horrible ending... hardly any suspense at all.. little action, drama, but there is mystery... but then the truth is not totally revealed at the end... and it's only for you to find out... so therefore you still wouldn't know a whole lot than from the beginning of the movie...
