The 21st instalment in the Tora-san series. Tora-san's uncle is suffering from a serious illness, all the family members want Tora-san to take over the family business. Tora-san tries his best and finally won praises across town. Until one day, Sakura's ex-classmate, Nanako, comes to town to perform for the SKD. Tora-san attends the performance and immediately falls for Nanako when he sees her dancing on the stage.
At that time, a friend of Tora-san comes from Kyushu to visit him. Tora-san brings him to the show and he falls in love with another dancer. Suddenly, Nanako collapses as she is struggling from an affair that has lasted ten years already. It made her wanted to quit dancing altogether.

Kinomi Nana steals the show

In "Tora-San's Stage-Struck", after once again needing to have his sister Sakura pay his hotel bill at a remote inn, Tora returns to his aunt and uncle's sweet shop in Tokyo with a new dedication to set his life on the right path. He becomes the ideal, hard-working employee of the sweet shop ... until Sakura's glamorous friend Nanako drops in. Nanako (Kinomi Nana) is the star of a spectacular Las Vegas-style musical revue and Tora immediately is smitten by her. He forgets his dedication to his job and begins finding excuses to go see the revue. While Tora moons over Nanako, Nanako is torn over her future. She loves her life on stage, but also loves a man who has asked for her hand in marriage. If she marries, she will have to give up show biz and she can't imagine doing so. What will she decide? And will Tora end up disappointed again? Kinomi Nana makes an indelible impression as the beautiful Nanako. She is the real reason to watch this twenty-first entry in the great Tora-San series. Director Yamada Yoji also does a fine job of bringing the milieu of the revue's cast and crew to vivid life. Also on hand to provide a comic foil is Takeda Tetsuya, as a country bumpkin who, like Tora, falls under the spell of the review. Takeda, in the preceding year, had starred in Yamada Yoji's film "The Yellow Handkerchief". |
