三十多歲的纊正值人生的盛年，並相信自己正過著豐盛的人生。這麼多年來，他一直不認識他的父親，因為自小他的母親便告訴他父親早已離世。正因如此，他自幼便明白成功的重要性，於是努力向學，並於大學畢業後投身股票市場，加上他擁有美滿的家庭及妻兒，一切似是很富足。一天，放工回家途中他遇到了一名衣衫襤褸的男子，堅稱自己便是他的父親。纊有點措手不及，決定讓男子到他家裡留宿，好讓他能弄清事情的真相。
Hiroshi Nirasaki is in his mid-thirties, the prime of life, and he works for a securities company. Hiroshi never knew his father. As a young boy his mother told him his father had died young. Perhaps it was that early loss which propelled Hiroshi into graduating from a prestigious university and taking a job in the high-flying world of stocks and shares. With a good marriage, a beautiful wife and a son, Hiroshi's life appears to be the dream of most Japanese businessmen or salarymen. One evening, on his way home from the office, Hiroshi is accosted by a raggedy man who claims to be his father. Hiroshi is obviously surprised and confused but agrees to allow the man to stay with them for a while until things are sorted out.

Facing life's changes
|
A stockbroker in his mid-thirties, with a lovely wife and a very cute son, is working hard and trying to be a good husband and father. Into his life drop two unexpected events that turn everything upside down: First, he meets a bedraggled old man who claims to be his father; his mother always had told him that his father had died when he was five. Second, his brokerage firm becomes bankrupt. How do he and his family handle these cataclysms? We see a family roused from the torpor of day-to-day life, unexpectedly faced with life-changing challenges. Ogata Ken steals the show as the irascible old man, adding yet another fine performance to his long list of credits. "Wait & See" turns out to be a minor masterpiece, a life-affirming charmer of a film. I recommend it very, very highly. |
