Excellent cinematography Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I've watched the VCD version of this movie and despite the reduced VCD display capability, I was still impressed with the cinematography of this movie.

The storyline is funny and witty too, and the actors were excellent (not just because they are Andy Lau and Rene Liu).

Entertaining action drama Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Director Feng seems to create entirely unique genres with each of his movies. There really is nothing quite like them.

This film combines drama, romance, comedy, and action to tell an engaging, if uneven, tale of a pair of grifters who have come to a personal and professional fork in the road. Rene Liu, who is pregnant with Andy Lau's child, wants to go straight. Lau has no interest in leaving behind his life of crime.

They meet up with a laborer who is returning to his country home with a bag full of money he earned by painting a monastery. The laborer is a pure-hearted, but simple-minded, bumpkin who thinks the best of everyone. Lau wants to take his money, Liu wants to protect the laborer and make sure he gets home with the cash. The situation gets complicated when they run into a more ruthless team of thieves and a wily cop.

The convoluted plot is a treat to follow and culminates in a poignant conclusion. I highly recommend this film for a general audience.

Ok Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Well overall the movie was ok but then I must agree with one of the views that he had died at the end just because he had wanted to give the bag of money back to the kid that was unconscious on the train..anyway sad ending but then..I would say the movie was ok...worth watching!

Exciting Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
This movie is pretty good, especially when the camera shows viewers the way of stealing! Andy Lau is doing great job on that, plus his acting of crying was really good. Story is good as well, just one thing I didn't like was the ending.. The women who got pregnant of Andy's abandoned her baby just because he died and was thieves? I didn't like that ending..

This the first Andy love story i've ever seen. This movie is real nice...up to the end. You should not miss this film. You can always get back to watching it over and over again, and don't get bored.

Enjoyable Arthouse-like Film Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I hadn't read much about this film before picking it up, but I'm glad that I did. The cinematography is great, the characters have emotional resonnance, and the plot moves steadily. I would recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys a very well-rounded film, as I truly enjoyed it from the first opening scene to its poignant ending. 8 out of 10 stars.

Great Story Line!!! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I really enjoyed this film. The story line is great and has a emotional ending. The film is about 2 professional thieves, Andy Lau and Rene Liu. Rene decides that it is time to call it quits and start a new life with Andy but things do not always work the way you want it to. Andy does not agree so they split and take their own paths. As time passes by he relises how much she really means to her. Don't want to spoil the plot so all I have left to say is this is probably one of the best films I've seen last year. Highly recommended and well worth the buy!

Movie a Disappointment - Nice DVD set, though Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
I have been a fan of Feng Xiaogang for quite some time, and of Ge You also - he is easily my favourite Chinese actor. However, this movie seems to miss the mark, in spite of the best efforts of talented actors Ge You, Rene Liu and Baoqiang Wang (from Blind Shaft). Whether Andy Lau acted well I could not judge, distracted as I was by the ridiculous wig he was wearing for most of the film.
The script reads like a good idea, but in the end, the character of 'Dumbo' seems a bit too naive to be credible.
What bothered me most, however, was the amount of shameless product placement - an assortment of brand names repeated in the credits. Feng Xiaogang has always tended towards commercialism, but oversteps the mark here.
At best, an entertaining holiday film, with pretensions to depth, but too much commercialism to make it ring true.

The DTS 2 DVD set was, nevertheless, a bargain and well produced, well worth the money.
