September 30, 2007 This is only averageI am a big fan of 呂方and had been so for the past 15+ years. I must say, to me, this is a very disppointing performance.I read all the review comments here and don't know why the reviewers praised about the performance when, in reality, this was a sub-standard performance. I think my speculation is that the quality of the CDs was bad, so I should get the DVD and see if those comments were valid. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

He came out from winning a local singing competition in Hong Kong and released this CD shortly after. This was in 1985 and I was 15 years old. I was then really impressed with his voice and how great he sounded. Folks, if you are a collector of the 80s' canton pop, this is a must-buy album. The songs were good and Jackie's performance was comparable to a veteran pop singer. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 2, 2007 An Album of Perfection
Priscilla Chan had 2 careers in the Hong Kong pop industry. She left to pursue an education in the early 90s and left her fans at the peak of her career. She returned a few years later and her popularity did not reach where she used to be. This album was issued in her "second career". We all know how well Priscilla can sing, but the songs of this ablum really accentuated her strengths. The selection of songs was excellent, her techinique sweet yet pefect and her control of emotion impeccable. The concept of the album was coherent as well. If you are like me, depressed about how boring the current canton pop culture is, go and buy yourself this CD and emerge yourself in some high-quality music. Did you find this review helpful? May 9, 2007 Great album
I love this albbum because it's the music style that I love. However, my comment is, how come Sandy lam produces such quality album in Mandarin only? Is not fair for the Cantonese fans of her like myself. I wish she can do the same thing for her upcoming Cantonese album. Kudos to you, Sandy for yet another great collection of songs. June 4, 2006 Interesting idea
I like the idea that the CD was recorded "live" and I LOVE the idea of mixing western musical instruments with the traditional Chinese ones. In addition, Hacken Lee injected certain classical elements into the CD which was refreshing as well. As for his singing, great as usual. The first five songs are my favorite. June 20, 2002 boring concert
Orginally, the reason I bought this was because I loved the dancing songs. I expected a lot of good dancing arrangements to go with the songs but hey, I was so disappointed. The concert was boring as hell...the costumes was ugly and the singing, I must say, was medioacre. A major disappointment. When you compare this with the Hacken Lee concert, the latter one was filled with good atmosphere and good singing. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
With (Deluxe Version)
April 23, 2002 my personal thoughtsThis is a great album in general. This album shows the versatility of Anita's singing technique and how powerful and flexible her voice is. Now the songs...The one with Faye Wong, disappointing as usual. I think is time Faye uses more heart when she sings and please, respect Anita for who she is. In Hong Kong, the radio stations plugged the one that Anita duets with Leslie Cheung but I think the duet with Anthony Wong is more interesting in terms of the lyrics and arrangement of the song. Heart-weeping tunes for the ones sung with Jackie Cheung and Sandy Lam. For those who think these two artists are outdated, you are definitely overlooking the fact that they can still capture many audiences. The one with Kelly Chan was interesting and surprising and Andy Lau should quit singing afterall. I have no comments for the rest of the songs sung by the so called the "hottest artists". One final comment, Anita can do a similar album and this time, please include Hacken Lee, Shirley Kwan, Candy Lo and Deanie Ip and Leon Lai (for a nice dance track). Did you find this review helpful? Hacken Lee Big Music Band (New Songs + Best Collection)
January 14, 2002 pretty good album overallHecken's ability to sing is known to be outstanding already throughout his career anyway. The selection of songs this time is not as good as the last album's. I am not sure why the record company people matched Hacken with whoever it was in the duet...she was not very good afterall. An 8 out of 10 because of the selection of songs and the wrong choice of the female singer in the duet. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra . Hacken Lee LIVE
May 1, 2001 Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hacken Lee LIVESimply speaking, Hacken had always been underrated in the HK pop market. This album can show people what is meant by having good singing technique. Personally, Hacken is at the same level as Jacky Cheung and much better than Alan Tam. Did you find this review helpful?
