ポワロはヘイスティングスと共に、エジプトまでの船旅を満喫していた。同乗者の中に、病院を経営するという高慢な妻と彼女に奴隷のように付き従う夫というカップル、クラパトン夫妻がいた。エジプトに到着後、妻の許可を得て上陸した夫だが船に戻ってみると…。
「海上の悲劇」の他、「なぞの盗難事件」の全2話を収録。
