Aiming High is the first TV series starring young Hong Kong singer Nicholas Tse. Others who have made their appearances include Yuen Wah who later stars in Kung Fu Hustle, the young and pretty Nicola Cheung San-Yuet and the handsome TV star Hawick Lau Hoi-Wai. A 20-episode TV series charged with energy to refresh you, the story of Aiming High evolves around the sport Judo which has never been a motif in Hong Kong's TV history.
Chun (Nicholas Tse) comes back to Hong Kong to attend his sister's wedding which later gets cancelled. Being a judo fan, he wants to learn this sport from Ben (Yuen Wah) who declines such request because Ben thinks that he should be held responsible for ruining the wedding of Chun's sister. Ben sends his sister Ching (Nicola Cheung) to teach Chun instead. Chun pretends to have fallen in love with Ching to learn more judo skills from her, without noticing his real love for her. Leung (Hawick Lau), Chun's good friend in the judo class, defeats Chun on the sports field, but will he be able to do so in winning Ching's heart?

留學海外的俊(謝霆鋒)熱愛運動，特別鍾情柔道，因回港參加其姊珊(梁藝齡)的婚禮而結識了柔道高手彬(元華)。俊崇拜彬的身手，決拜他為師，珊卻反對，原來彬無意間令珊的婚事告吹。為免激怒珊，彬遂派其妹晶(張燊悅)任俊的導師。晶出名苛刻，令俊苦不堪言。為得其絕技，俊竟假意追求晶。
在俊滿以為情場及柔道兩方面皆得意之際，一次與同門好友亮(劉愷威)切磋時卻慘敗；時晶亦得知俊追求她的真相，傷心下與他分手，更旋即投向亮的懷抱。俊始知自己已真的愛上晶......
