YesAsia Editorial Description

It's been a long wait, but Choi Ji Woo finally returns to television in 2007 with the highly anticipated MBC drama Air City, her first Korean drama since 2003's Stairway to Heaven. Co-star Lee Jung Jae, the lead of such popular films as Typhoon and Il Mare, has been away from television even longer, nine years to be exact. Rising star Lee Jin Wook (Someday) and the versatile Moon Jung Hee (A Happy Woman) round out the amazing cast. With the Incheon International Airport as backdrop, this stylish, big-budget drama revolves around the work and romance of four airport personnel, giving a chance for viewers to witness the inner workings of the airline industry. Boosting the drama's draw even further is the pen of screenwriter Choi Wan Kyu, the man behind Jumong, Hur Jun, and countless other popular dramas.

Level-headed operations chief Han Do Kyung (Choi Ji Woo) remains cool and calm under all circumstances - that is until she meets rash NIS agent Kim Ji Sung (Lee Jung Jae). Acting on instinct whenever he thinks national security is at stake, he often breaks rules and ruffles feathers on the job, bringing him into constant contact, and sometimes conflict, with Do Kyung. Though strong on the outside, both Do Kyung and Ji Sung are struggling with memories and misgivings from the past, and Do Kyung finds herself gradually falling for Ji Sung. Adding to her confusion are her evolving friendships with longtime friend and security personnel Ha Joon (Lee Jin Wook) and airport director Myung Woo (Moon Jung Hee), who also happens to be Ji Sung's ex-girlfriend.

Good but not great! Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I was a bit disappointed in this drama. I was looking forward to Lee Jung Jae & Choi Ji Woo teaming up to have a great love story but YIKES, they missed!

This needed a bit more of CJW touch of romance with leading guy, that is something she is good at. Making the leading guy look good.

This was a bit scattered in story line.

Lee Jin Wook was good but too young for the part he played. Still he did a good job.

The ending also was a bit disappointing. Waiting at the runway...

Do we wait for the next volume....?

I still purchased this when it first came out for my huge collection of K-dramas & music.

A lot of potential... Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
I was really starting to get into this series when all of a sudden it ended. The last episode is so poorly wrapped up that I spent a while trying to find out if I missed a disc. I have to assume that this is just the first season, but I didn't think k-dramas did that. It is pretty typical with the childhood seperation / ex-girlfriend with cancer / love triangle type of stuff, but I actually thought it worked really well. I just can't believe they ended it so abruptly. Maybe they went over budget? Maybe Korean writers are on strike too? Way too many loose ends. It's a shame too, because it seemed like it was building up to something really cool.

Just cannot recommend this one Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
I had hopes that this might be at least average, but I was disappointed. Basically a series showing how Incheon fights drug traffickers, handles birds on the runway, deals with issues affecting passengers (delays, luggage problems, etc.)...I watched this on AZN only for Lee Jung Jae, who looks absolutely great...truly a handsome guy.

Lee Jin Wook just cannot carry a "romantic" role. He's not convincing...his "acting" is totally one-dimensional. He was awful in Someday and he's no better here. He needs acting lessons.

Choi Ji Woo doesn't look very good in this series, except toward the end, when she begins to look a bit better. She also has pretty much of a one-dimensional style when she acts. Very wooden and frozen-faced. (I'm not going to say B***x, but ?)

Moon Jung Hee is very, very pretty and she plays an interesting role.

One of my favorite character actors, Kwon Hae Hyo, is in Air City...I enjoyed watching him and he's always entertaining. But one of his storylines was dismissed in a couple of seconds at the end. Annoying.

This drama COULD have been quite interesting, but the attractions among the characters are simply not believable. The storylines, some of which seem very far-fetched, are either not resolved or are resolved poorly, which seems to indicate the writers left the door open for a sequel. Don't spend your money on this one.

Excellent Movie Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Great Movie!! The action and airport scenery was excellent! Different from traditional Korean movies. It was more modern and real.

I think it ended too soon. It left a lot of unanswered questions. Did Han Do Kyung and Kim Ji Sung ever meet again? Did Han Do Kyung meet her mom to iron the issues they had between each other? What about her sister and the director. Did they ever get together? What happen with to Myung Woo? Did she recover? What was the outcome of Ha Joon and Han Do Kyung relationship? Did Ha Joon eventually join the NIS? In his role, it seemed that he would eventually become an agent. Was the airport expansion a success or did someone try to stop the expansion? What happen to the man that was working with the Chinese? Yep, Great Movie…but it left too many unanswered questions. There needs to be a sequel. Air City II.

Great show! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This show does not follow the typical kdrama storyline and that's what I liked. I had really low expectations of this film but once I watched it, it was great. Choi Ji Woo and Lee Jung Jae shine in this show. I watched it with an open mind and I got great results. It's very different from the other kdramas (ie: evil sister, someone dies..etc) I highly recommend this one!
