I think a lot of people who 'hated' this drama, probably weren't paying very close attention. There are no flashy sets, nor a lot of what I guess could be called 'superficial fillers'. I'd say it was a very beautiful drama. After it was mentioned to me by someone, I went ahead and watched this drama about a year and a half ago, and liked it so much, when I happened upon it recently I purchased it. There are many subtleties and hidden meanings in this drama for those who are patient enough to notice them. No, there is no high-paced race-to-save-the-girl-from-the-gangster chase scenes. There aren't even really any kissing scenes. If you're just looking for something to stimulate your adrenaline or your libido, look elsewhere. But it's a good story, with a good narrative, and superb actors. I felt deeply moved and touched by it myself. Since I am someone who grew up with divorced parents, it was interesting seeing this couple and their motions and how closely it seemed to mimic real life. And truly, I felt I understood my parents a little better by the end of it. AGAIN: IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A GUM JANDI +GU JOONPYO STORY, THIS IS NOT YOUR DRAMA. But I really enjoyed this drama, and have planned to watch it a third time with a friend of mine. I don't regret purchasing it one bit! |

I love the kid
I love the kid
| This drama is very realistic yet emotional. There are some times when the story's just dragging slow (relatively few here, compared to other Korean dramas), but what I really love about this drama apart from them meeting up at Dunkin Donuts every morning, is the super smart 7-year old kid who sounds like 72 when she talks. |

"Alone in Love", in its quiet, unobtrusive way, was one of the greatest television series I've ever seen. At the center of this wonderful series -- "the elephant in the room" in almost every scene -- is the grieving process. Garm Woo Sung and Son Ye Jin brilliantly portray a loving couple whose grief over their stillborn baby has driven them inward to such an extent that they now are "alone in love". The consequences of this profound grief are played out in an appropriately slow, subtle, natural way over the 16 hour length of this series. The film's urban cinematography is some of the most beautiful I've seen in a television series. The acting is nuanced and sensitive. And, best of all, the scriptwriting may be the most mature and perceptive I've ever encountered on the small screen, addressing this serious subject matter with a light enough touch to be funny, heartwarming, and engaging throughout. "Alone in Love" is not kid stuff. If life has not yet dealt you a few blows, then you may not appreciate this series. However, for anyone who has grieved a serious loss, "Alone in Love" will touch your heart in a way you might never have thought possible in a TV series. One final note -- The scene in which Son Ye Jin sings at Garm Woo Sung's wedding certainly is one of the most powerful and moving I've ever seen. Miss Son richly deserved the "best actress" award she received for this performance. This is a superb series and I give it my highest recommendation. |

Alone in Stupidity
Alone in Stupidity
| Yup... this series is a long and dragging love story which everyone knows how it would end. This is neither funny or sentimental. It too bad that writers are so trapped in their own stupidity to pen such a try-hard tear jerker drama. They tottaly failed! |

Wonderful, Touching Drama

I enjoyed this series immensely for a number of reasons. To start off with, the main actors in this series were both great, the story was simple and easy to follow, and the overall theme is very evident throughout the whole show. I think one of the main reasons why enjoyed this show is because it is definitely not the formula for a typical Korean drama. No sibling incest, no dramatic plot twists, no amnesia, and no terminal illnesses. It's simply about two very ordinary people in very ordinary cirumstances. I don't think this drama is for everyone, but should definitely be given a try if you are in need of something new to watch. |

Poor Drama Series
Poor Drama Series
| "Alone in Love" was by far the worst series for drama I had ever seen. There was no theme, plot, and just down right boring. This so-called drama was so bad, I did not even finish watching it! I would not recommend anyone to purchase this series, and personally I feel like I have been robbed and want my money back. I will be much more careful when I order more Korean dramas in the future. |

Not yoru averge K-drama
| Alone in love is definitly not your averge K-drama. It lacks some of the things we all know (flash backs, recaps, coincidences, messy love triangles) however, while those things aren't all bad, I found this drama to be much more mature than those other dramas. It dealt with the same underline themes (love, heartache, 2nd chances, etc) but in different way. The dialog was cleaver and very witty. There was a lot of chemistry between the two main actors. Its nice to see some directors take a different approach to the same old love stories we all know. I really enjoyed Alone in Love. |

So and So
| I'm sorry to say, as a huge Son Yae Jin fan that this was not a very enticing story, despite Song Yae Jin's great acting. The story was just very boring, i kept wanting to skip over many many parts. |

from its packaging to the nitty gritty. I wanted this drama so bad (even though I had never seen it or read many reviews) that I bought the region free dvd player on sale at yesasia.com. I believe I still got a bargain now that I have it all. Please buy this. It is sooo worth it. The story is about the complex relationship of 2 people (Dong Jin and Eun Ho) who were once married and now endure single life. The casting, writing, acting, directing, cinematography and music were PERFECT. Everytime I paused it for whatever reason, I returned to a well balanced visual composition. What a beautiful production! Plus, there were as many hilarious and insightful parts as there were emotionally stirring. I appreciate the writer and director's focus on the very nature of relationships. There aren't any gurantees... Marriage isn't the pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow... parents don't always have the answers or aren't always the best examples... communication is key to any relationship... the older you get, the more baggage you carry... and so on... Voice overs livened the shots of everyday life (Korea is absolutely beautiful). I think this is where some people may find it boring. But I enjoyed that, as well as found it necessary to understand the characters. Relationships aren't easy as is, and I feel that most of the Kdramas I've seen recently focus only on far-fetched and unrealistic obstacles (relationships shouldn't have to be rediculously complicated to be interesting - who wants that?). Because of the attention to this subject matter, this drama may be more appreciated from the older audience. Dong Jin said something pretty cool about adults needing to fall in love, because it brings them back to a time when there were hopeful, optimistic, and looked toward the future as they did when they were kids. It's true. Somehow we forget what it feels like to be excited about tomorrow. We spend a lot of time living in the past while trying to avoid the same mistakes in the present, or cling to what was, hoping never to get old. Eun Ho, you break my heart! The sorrow and loneliness that poor girl felt was so real, I wish I could hug her - she carries her burden well. Yeah, I was mad at Dong Jin, too. He could have been more of a husband instead of playing off his grief (She IS your wife, dude). When she finds out after all that time of wondering... Kumawo. Cuts me deep. If you want to watch a thoughtful, often hilarious, and beautifully presented comedy/drama, I highly recommend buying Alone In Love. |
