Bibi (China Version)
February 14, 2009 Better than expectedTruthfully, I was a little scared to get a China Version of the album, as I had gotten burnt before by getting fake albums sold as original ones. Plus, the difference in price between the Taiwan version to a China version was pretty big. Despite all that, I found the album okay... average to any album tagged as $8. It came with 3 'postcards' with photos, and a songbook that makes like Bibi's map of Vienna. The map looked a bit odd, like it was low resolution...
Bibi's music is really good though, pretty different to any female artists out there - so there really isn't a problem with the musical content.

February 14, 2009 The only thing missing...would be subs on, at least, some of the extras on the DVD.
Other than that, this DVD gets top marks. Kudos to WOWOW for releasing this film with subs, as they should do to make it easier to spread Japanese films.
This two-disc edition has at least +2hrs of extras, including features on the music, the making of, press conference, and a lot of cat stuff. I had been told that Japanese releases tend to go above the regular quality of American releases, and I have to agree.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
February 14, 2009 Great music...
,but average package design.
I was excited about getting this album, after I listened to it a few times and fell in love with the sound. I didn't know what was the difference in content between the Taiwan version and the Mainland China version, but I was expecting a lot more from the Taiwanese version, which cost me roughly twice as much.
The album comes in a standard DVD case (don't know whether that's a regular thing in Asian albums), covered with a flimsy cardboard cover - just like the one from the $9.99 DVD offers - the songbook has only the lyrics of the songs, and credits with no photos.
The music is worth getting, perhaps buying the album in digital form... but not the product design.

Memories Of Matsuko (DVD) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version)
Memories Of Matsuko (DVD) (English Subtitled) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3
(3)Our Price: US$19.99Usually ships within 1 to 2 daysOctober 6, 2008 One of the best HK releases I have seen... from my limited HK releases collection!
Once again, this is a product review... though apparently it reflects my rating because I would also give the film top marks!
First off, I really like the case of the HK Special Edition, so presentation is really good.
Since this film is quite the visual fest, the digital transfer also matters, and it's great. Subtitles are in order, no missing letters or misspelled, no missing dialogue. It's all in order with the main disc. The 2nd disc which contains small interviews with Miki Nakatani, and another one with Tetsuya Nakashima, as well as a Making Of, and Film-to-Storyboard Comparisons for many of the musical numbers... so this 2nd disc is full of information I didn't know! Like the difficult actress-director relationship there was...
Totally worth getting, in my opinion!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Love Letter (Collector's Edition) (Hong Kong Version)
October 6, 2008 This is a review of the product! So let's not mistake this with a review of the film, because I love the film!!
I bought this HK Special Edition because it was the only available when I decided to buy it, and when I opened the DVD, I was quite happy with the printed postcards of the film, as well as the frames from the film~
However, when I played the DVD I noticed that in one scene the subtitles were on the screen when no dialogue was being said. Surprise! It was the following scene. After that scene, there were scattered scenes where there were missing letters in the subtitle (eg. "o" instead of "to") Maybe it's just my copy, or the player I used... who knows, but the fact that a good chunk of dialogue was not where it's supposed to be, tainted my view on the product. Maybe it is like my friend said... Hong Kong releases aren't all that good?Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Swing Girls (DTS Version) (Hong Kong Version) DVD Region 3
(1)Our Price: US$13.49Usually ships within 7 daysSeptember 27, 2008 HK version doesn't subtitle featuresI really like this movie, and I would give it 4 stars as a film, but it was my surprise to find that the only extra on the dvd - Making of Swing Girls - is not subbed... not even in Chinese. If I bought the Hong Kong version was because I needed subtitles, and I figured that since Japanese is not an official language there, that I would get subs. Did you find this review helpful? She talks about eating a lot more than in Dandelion and Travel Sand. All photos are taken by Ivy Chen, and resemble real life a lot more than the previous photobooks~
Wasn't really my thing, but the book includes a whole lot more text which is good if you can read~~ There were some good anecdotes in this one, like meeting that old man... one of the cutest photos~

Aoi Yu Photo Album -Rhythmedia
August 17, 2008 Cool Looking and so Cold DANDELION!Why is it called Dandelion? I've no idea... maybe it's because of that photo of a bottle with that flurry warming hat that maybe resembles one~
Thing is, Dandelion is a cool photobook. It's red hardcover has a nice feel to it, as well as a nice printed smell. Photos by Yoko Takahashi, who also photographed Yu Aoi in the previous book Travel Sand, are throughout the +100 pages. In this photobook, there's a lot more behind the scenes photos as well~~
Although this collection has some very good shots overall (maybe some of my favorites), I kinda missed the handwritten letters that Travel Sand had (and Yu's doodles xD), but Dandelion makes for really clear reading and some really cute moments~~
I'll give it a 4.5/5Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

In my opinion, this is a great compilation for new fans that might have discovered Kobukuro late (like me). I don't know about hard-core fans of the duo, but I'm sure they will either love it or hate it... if they haven't yet bought it.
Once again, if you're planning to get your introduction to the group, better start with this one!
PLUS, is WAY cheaper to buy here~Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
MYV Pops (Normal Edition)(Japan Version)
July 6, 2008 Crazy Music ChangeI confess, the first Miyavi albums were too hard rocking for me, so I was surprised with the 360 he pulled in here. Even my dad loves listening to this acoustic funky fusion of rhythms and sounds.
Great for bopping your head up and down, but so~ hard to sing along to (at least for me). I think it's great for chilling a while with your friends.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

July 6, 2008 Great Follow-upThe follow-up for landmark is also a great music fest that can be listened throughout your day while relaxing, or working on the computer.
It also comes with all the lyrics, and some hand-made crayon doodles and drawings with it. It's not as cool package as landmark, but still different enough to stand out from many other generic albums.
Besides from the music, the packaging is all that matters when buying an album for me. xDDid you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

July 6, 2008 Great music, Great ArtworkThis is an instant must-have for Salyu fans because besides from containing great songs that you can listen throughout the day, it contains a fantastic flash-card-based-songbook with all the lyrics and AMAZING photos.
Those photos, and the way they were printed are what made the full package for me.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
