横山やすし、西川きよしの2人がコンビを組んで活動を始めたのは昭和41年。翌年には上方漫才大賞の新人賞に輝き、瞬く間にお笑い界の頂点にまで上りつめた。さらに昭和50年代後半の漫才ブームではリーダーとしてお笑い界を牽引。昭和初期にエンタツ・アチャコが始めた"しゃべくり漫才"は、やすきよによって完成されたとも言える。しかし、横山やすしは51歳の若さでこの世を去り、ファンの前にやすきよの2人が姿を現すことは無くなってしまった。本作は昭和55年の「激突漫才新幹線」から昭和60年の正月番組での「男のオシャレ学」まで、やすきよ漫才の粋をDVD6枚に収録した傑作漫才集。伝説の黄金コンビの爆笑漫才を永遠に残す、昭和大衆演芸の頂点をとらえた永久保存版である。
