1995年，電影《情留半天》（Before Sunrise）講述謝西與莎蓮萍水相逢的愛情故事，二人邂逅於火車上，即興同遊維也納一天，電影細膩地捕捉了二人的相聚一刻。事隔九年，電影《日落巴黎》（Before Sunset）延續二人情緣，讓在維也納車站分手的二人在巴黎「復合」。
整套電影在巴黎拍攝，男女主角流連於拉丁區、「莎士比亞書店」、咖啡室、塞納河畔，邊走邊談彼此的生活，時間只得短暫的一個下午……失落了九年的感情還會如當日般熾熱嗎﹖
