Well-rounded selection of Mika's early hits
Well-rounded selection of Mika's early hits
| "Love Addict", a jumping, tuneful jazz number, was my way into this album. The song simply popped off the album and grabbed my interest. Using it as my departure point, I began to listening to the other tracks more carefully and found that I enjoy almost all of them. Nakashima Mika proves to be deft at jazz, pop, dance, and ballad songs, although she is a bit overwhelmed by the classic hymn, "Amazing Grace", and a bit generic on "Glamorous Sky". Mika has an appealingly warm voice that really shines when she sings in a quiet, controlled manner. I really enjoy twelve of these fourteen songs and am eager to buy Miss Nakashima's more recent albums. I recommend this collection very highly. |

Great arrangement!
Great arrangement!
| I bought this cd a few days after its release; amasing job! I've been listening to Mika for about a year now; and I must say her voice never fails to surprise me! She has a very jazz/pop feel to her music, and that's what I like about her. Her melodies are smooth and relaxing, along with that strong/soft voice of hers! This cd is a Best, meaning it is a collection of her past discographies. I very well enjoy "Love Addict" and "Yuki no hana". |

Mika Nakashima, one of the most noticeable voice in the Japanese Pop Scene. After 3 successful albums ("True", "Love" & "Music"), and the movie adaptation of the comic "NANA", this is a retrospective collection of her 14 singles releases between 2001-2005 on CD, and 20 tracks on DVD separately marketed. Her music is 'produced' in the safe zone of easy-listening ballad & jazz, with the exception of the little rock in "Glamorous Sky" from the O.S.T. of "NANA". Since the first single of star, Mika has been topping the ORICON chart. Her voice is amazing, and she has matured in the brief 5 years as a vocal artist, screaming with youth, resistance and strength. Her weakness in the very high note is still apparent, unfortunately. The Fantasy/Lotus theme has became the brand she holds, as a reflection to the emotional struggle in the young adulthood. If you are unfamiliar with her, this is a good introduction to this fantastic singer. There is also a Music video collection under the same title, well made, on par with Utada Hikaru's. As I teach animation and video editing, these are some of the best references I use in the Eastern World. Highly recommended. Favourite tracks: 04. Will 10. Seven 14. Glamorous Sky |

I have already reviewed the CD of this product. As much as the 'Best' CD is a well done assemblage of 14 selections highlighting the first four years of Nakashima Mika's successful music career, so its respective DVD is an even more extensive overview of her career on the music video screen to date, because it includes every single clip she did up to the release of this DVD. There are also new video clips of 'Amazing Grace,' 'Oborozukiyo~Inori,' 'Glamorous Sky,' and 'Blood,' a live version. For all your information, I have seen some of the videos included, and each one has a specific theme attached to it. All of Mika's videos are very well done and are so unlike anything you may see on American MTV. All this makes 'Best' probably her best album/DVD. My advice: it's worth saving up money to get this DVD if you love Mika and especially if you are region-free. And don't forget to save money for her albums 'Best,' 'Love,' 'Music,' and 'True,' as well as the single for 'Stars,' which includes the Original Version of that song. |

Re-write of review
| Okay, forget everything I originally said. This album debuted at #1 on the Japan album charts on 12.7.2005, according to several sources. With all the content on this compilation I am so excited about getting it anyway. This has to be the 'Best' album she released to date because the next 13 songs after 'Amazing Grace' are already hits and classics. Anyway, I need say no more. Go out and buy it if you love Mika. |

What's on this upcoming disc is great, but...
What's on this upcoming disc is great, but...
| Although I must give this upcoming issue 4 stars because it contains VERY important highlights of her singing career (and to think she is my favorite female singer!), and although I'd be more than happy to pick this up, I'm pretty disappointed that some equally beautiful gems like 'Hi no Tori' and 'Helpless Rain' don't make it to the album. It does include her recording for the movie 'Nana,' namely 'Glamorous Sky,' as the last track. Maybe SOMEDAY her record label will issue an ultimate best-of set with ALL of her single tracks. |
