Beyond the Years OST

Beyond The Years, which marks director Im Kwon Taek's 100th film, continues the journey of the two main characters from Im's 1993 film Seopyeonje. The very first Korean soundtrack to be made in collaborationg with London Symphony Orchestra, Beyond The Years OST crosses over the barriers of different musical genres to combine the elements of both eastern and western classical sounds. After attending one of Yang Bang Ean's concert, director Im was impressed by his exotic blend of music which exudes the dynamics and the grandiose scale of Korean traditional sounds fused in perfect harmony with the romanticism of western classical music.

The soundtrack was recorded at the Abbey Road Studio in England, where movies like Lord of the Ring and Harry Potter also recorded their soundtracks. Featuring the delicate sounds of Korean traditional instruments and pansori (traditional Korean narrative singing), Beyond The Years OST is a remarkable example of East-meets-West.
