YesAsia Editorial Description

Legendary Hong Kong band Beyond star in the 1991 feature film Beyond's Diary. In the tradition of the Beatles and Wynners films, this is a story of youth and music told with the usual genre mishmash and plucky energy of 90s Hong Kong cinema. Directed by Francis Sung, Beyond's Diary marks a rare acting outing for rockers Wing Yip, Paul Wong, Steve Wong, and Wong Ka Kui, and the only time all four members have graced the big screen together. Wong Ka Kui sadly passed away two years later in 1993, making this film an important memory of the late great star. Beyond's Diary also features Hong Kong diva Faye Wong (Chungking Express) in her film debut.

Kui (Wong Ka Kui), Keung (Steve Wong), Chung (Paul Wong), and Wing (Wing Yip) are four buddies who are all very passionate about music. Together they form a band called Beyond, but the music of youth is too often eclipsed by real world worries. In order to fulfill his family's dream of emigration, Kui works day and night to earn money, toiling himself to sickness. The ambitious Keung wants to build a successful career, but finds himself working at a shady company. Chung's childhood dream was to become a police officer, but due to his weak physique he gets shuffled to traffic control. Wing wants to study music at Hong Kong University, but his girlfriend (Faye Wong) and her parents pressure him into medicine, a field he is completely unsuited for. Can the four youths find their ways again through friendship and music?

Funny Movies with great songs Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I remember seeing this movie long time ago and I think it is semi autobiography. This movie had plenty of laughs dealing with their lives and probably their last movie featuring 4 of them together. Another good thing are there are plenty of great Beyond tracks in there like 'No hesistation'. Recommended!

missing him...=( Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
this is really weird for me to be writing about this because i'm just a new fan of beyond! i was really young when they were in their most popular days when ka kui was still around. the only memory i have of them is from the movie happy ghost which i watch when i was only 7 years old. it wasn't until recently that they been kickin back into my world so much that everything i'm doing i think of them especially ka kui. the fact that he's gone is making me feel so terrible b/c his songs and voice is so amazing that it really sinks into my heart like no other singer has before. for the last two week no matter what i do i can't get him out of my head, everytime i'm driving to school or work i've been cring when listening to him sing on the stereo! it's like his death is haunting me b/c i just miss him so much..=( and now all that i can do is to collect all the memories i can of him by buying all his cds movies etc. i know this isn't going to be an easy task but i know that i can do it for i believe that ka kui's spirit will forever be with us!!!

greatest band Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
They were the best band and still are ka kui will stil live with us he wrote songs from the heart and wrote about what life was, the 'thinkers' among us really need to listen to his work. He was an excellent singer too, strange you may say as ka kui isnt really a singer but just the lead singer for a band BUT he sings very well, hard songs he does (try to sing them man its hard!) i think of the music world in hong kong today there can only be a couple who can re create his singing, eason (yes him strange but true he has an amazing capability to sing anything - in his concerts the singing is top and even singing other er...'cra-pper' songs he makes them good). IF ONLY YESASIA have this in stock because i will difinitely buy it, its all the songs i need to my collection. Im sure my friends will also be interested.
