The "godfather of the kung-fu film" Chang Cheh, was given one of the highest budgets to tell this sweeping war story of disillusionment, and revenge. Kung-fu choreographer Liu Chia-liang led an all-star fighting cast featuring international favorite Alexander Fu Sheng and Shaw Brothers, villain superme Wang Lung-wei. Even the most avid fans of Bloody Avengers the heavily edited U.S. version of this film, will find this uncut, uncropped original a welcome revelation.

Good eastern heroism
| The movie defines the good spirit of eatern heroes fighting for their country and races. The ending story is not good with the death of Fu Sheng and Jenny. |

Boxer rebellion
| A great cast which includes Fu Sheng, Chi Kwan Juan, Li Li Hwa, Hu Chin, Jenny... however, none of their roles are impressive. A historical war movie turned out to be another kung fu movie. Probably this is what director Chang Cheh's intent. |
