A late but good review
|
If fans continue to compare 'Expansion' to her new CDs, they better not to buy her new works. This late review is due to my continuous search of the Taiwan version in HK record stores except the super expensive chain charging unreasonable price. Track 4 and 12 are excellent ballads that yuki fans will treasure. Track 2 (Reality) and track 10 (tear drop)are the best fast tempo songs. Even if yuki's popularity has reached its height, many years later new and existing fans will agree that she has made a singificant contribution of classics in the music industry of Japan. Ganbatte Yuki San!! |

Buddy is best
| I have listened to Buddy before purchasing it and I must say it is one of Koyanagi Yuki's best works yet. I have said time and time again that disco and ballads were more Koyanagi's style and she has done just that. There really are only two "r&b" style songs on the album; "Hit on" and "Caution." Her more retro/disco style suites her voice as does ballads! SHe has come a long way with this album, despite three bad singles "Beautiful WOrld", "Deep Deep", and "Hit on." I hope that Koyanagi Yui can find her way back on to the jpop map because she is one great artist with a voice to die for! |

Yuki's 4th
| This is Yuki's 4th album and she's no doubt been around for a while, now. However, no longer does she have the chart-topper singles like "aijou" and "be alive" or the million-selling albums like "EXPANSION" that we all saw back in 2000. There's definately a reason for that. After "EXPANSION" came out, Yuki took a long break (by Japanese artist standards) and came back with two, not mediocre, but not all that great, singles "beautiful world" and "DEEP DEEP" which barely made a ripple on the charts. Her third album came out and although I was pleased with most of the tracks, didn't sell nearly as well as her other two. So, when Yuki released "remain ~kokoro no kagi" back in late 2001, and it sold over 200,000 copies, I was hoping she could put herself back on the map. However, it really does seem like Yuki is incapable of doing this. She followed the chart-topper with two other mediocre singles that I wasn't very fond of, and when it came time to decided whether or not to purchase this CD, I was hesitant. But wait: Yuki may not be as great as she used to be, but she's not quite dead. Several of the songs on this album are decent. "Reality" is a retro style track that I found very catchy. It's one of my favorites on this CD. I also was fond of "kimi ga ita natsu" and "Caution." But most of CD is just ...decent. One of my friends once told me that "EXPANSION" sounded like a title that screamed "you gotta hear this CD! it's excellent!" and "buddy" sounded like a title that says "you can listen to this...if u want to..." I really do agree with this statement. Koyanagi Yuki is finding it difficult to make good music, and maybe she should take a longer break to figure it out. Otherwise, her popularity will continue to drop into a black hole. Some people who bought her third album "my all.." might want check this out, but hear all the tracks before you decide to buy it. |
